    Some Blu-Ray Info

Well, it took a while, and because I'm upgrading my bedroom electronics, I starting looking in earnest. I decided to go with the Samsung BD-F7500. Analog outputs, everything set up without a hassle, sounds great (even music, once I realized that PCM Downsampling was on by default, and turned it...

    Some Blu-Ray Info

Yes, my receiver does have analog inputs. I used it on my Panasonic because I liked the audio codec on that player. Oppo. Oh my. Even a used one will, probably, still be pricy, but I'll look into that, for sure. THIS is why I don't frequent these forums like I used to. You people always give...

    Some Blu-Ray Info

It's been a log time since I posted here, but it's good to know I have a place to go to have my questions answered:) In a nutshell, my old Panasonic S97 stopped reading CD's on me a while back, and I can't stand it anymore. I wouldn't mind getting a Blu-Ray player, if only for the HD audio. But...

LOL! I was expecting this sooner rather than later.

    The Golden Compass

You seem to be going to great lengths to promote your own agenda... albeit subtle. Unlike you, sir, one man's beliefs, or lack thereof, will not detour most people from seeing this movie if they choose to do so. They will go to be entertained, not seeking affirmation, conversion, or...

    Star Trek HD DVD...Worth It?

Follow-up... Broke down and bought it at Costco yesterday. Really nice! Paramount may be acting like pimps when it comes to S.T., but pimps that care about the material. Now I just need, eventually, a HD-DVD player with HD audio decoding on-board (I guess that would be the Toshiba HD-A35)...

    Star Trek HD DVD...Worth It?

Just read the review. Most complete review yet. Many thanks!:)

    Star Trek HD DVD...Worth It?

Not according to what reviews I could get a hold of. It's pretty much a given that Paramount is going to milk this franchise for all it's worth... each release being progressively better than the next. Still, I would rather hear from people that have the disks as compared to a potentially...

    Star Trek HD DVD...Worth It?

Although I don't have a HD player yet, I was wondering if this season 1 set is better from a audio / video point of view on the DVD side (compared to Paramounts' last original S.T. offering). I'm not a purist, so the computer enhanced space sequences are no big deal. I am concerned, however...

    KEF anyone?

When we're happy with our old models, why go out of our way to listen to the new ones?

    Oppo 971H vs. Panasonic S-97

I assume you mean HDMI to DVI. No. Some people report macro-blocking issues, though, depending on their display- but most people have no issues, whatsoever (including me).

    Oppo 971H vs. Panasonic S-97

I also have the S-97. No trouble to date (about 8 months). Excellent picture AND audio (should you decide to use it). Both are good players. I decided to go for a product that would, hopefully, have more support behind it should something go wrong (knocks on wood...).

$50 Gift Card from Best Buy - Which Upconverting player?

I guess it depends on how long you want to keep it. The BB's in my area had squat, so I bought I Panasonic S97 on-line (also Faroudja). I wanted a good player for a few years because HD-DVD is a couple years away from getting my attention.

Good 2.1 set up for a computer

I think I've heard this before as well! PC speakers are designed to get the biggest bang in the samllest space. Most of us have no desire to turn their PC workstation into another space-hogging audio rack- I already have this in two rooms, which is enough ("Is that a 12" sub between your legs...

Good 2.1 set up for a computer

I also have the Klipsch 2.1's. Great all-around system. Musically, it could be better (weak midrange), but games and movies are great. That little sub can really put out!

Enter to Win: Subwoofer from Axiom Audio

Great sound, of course- anybody who says otherwise is a fool. On the other hand, there's a large enough selection of quality subs out there to where we don't have to sacrafice other desirable qualities such as size or shape or finish. ...For all the people outside the "great sound" catagory...

    Best Speaker Brands

True. I meant more of a weight-to-size ratio. Like looking at a bar of gold, thinking that it's not that heavy... until you lift it up.

As you can see on my sig, my rears are TimeFrame 400's (6 ohms nominal, but currently running them @ 8). I'm also using their monitor series bookshelves in the bedroom. Great speakers. Just stay away from the power hungry ones!

    Best Speaker Brands

Hmmm. My dad gave me his pair of old and heavy(~20lbs.) KLH bookshelves that sounded superb in our bedroom (no veneer finish on these babys). The only reason I got rid of them was that I came into a set of DCM bookshelf monitors (L, R, and center). It still took me over an hour swapping speakers...

    Digital Cable and 5.1

Not here in San Diego ("Cox" Cable). DVD is better and low levels via cable. Unless you're going to get a bunch of movie stations, save your money.
