    Yes compared to the JVC RS-2 with native CR of 30,000:1 ... ( needs darkend room to actually see the CR after your eyes iris opens usually takes 30 min ). But the JVC is $8K and only will do a pygmy size screen due to 1000 lumens . So given my dungeon basement with 110" grey Da-Lite HCCV...

    Imagine having a new Sony Ruby ( VPL-W100 ) where the bulb cost at wholesale is $750 and after 500 hours it has a loss of 50% in it's brightness !!! That means 2 bulbs per year @ $750 that is just wrong ... I will continue to use much cheaper 720P LCD technology with cheap buld...

    It will be nice a few years from now when the RPTV that are debuting with LED light source ( typically 20K hr life ) come out with bright enough models for front throw projectors ...man never having to scrooge on HDTV time beacause of bulb replacement cost issues ....priceless
