    Bryston Class D Amplifiers

Mainly curious about the specs and how they measure up to other Class D amps. It seems like the Hypex and Purifi modules are pretty established and perform well, so interested to see how the Bryston compares given they seem to using their own proprietary design. I assume that they will measure...

    Bryston Class D Amplifiers

Cannot comment on Bryston's Class D amps. Their A/B amps are nearly bullet proof. I am using a 4B-ST (Lexicon 225) to drive my pair of Maggie 1.7s. The amp is now 38+ years old. About 12 years ago the amp moaned from one channel when shutting down. Sent it back to Bryston for service they...

    Vintage amps (70s)

...which was designed to biamp the reference speakers via the 2nd voice coil on the woofer. Anthony Gallo used the Spectrum Musician III 500W Class D amps when demoing the speakers at audio shows... that was a high end amp, sadly the brand expired with its founder. I used the specs of that amp...

Parasound A21+ power amp for my front L/R speakers -- overkill? Other options?

The class D amps are not “one” amp but many different amp modules the most powerful would be the Hypex NcoreX modules or the second generation Purifi modules. These are much smaller amps, run cooler and have the better bench measurements than the older Class AB amps...

What New Stuff Have You Bought? If You Care To Share Thead! :)

Have had the Pro+ in my cart since black Friday, but didn't pull the trigger. Probably once I move fully into the house, I will pick one up.

Waffling around on a tube Amp

Old thread, I know. The Heaven-11 Billie is into its MK 3 generation, now with options for an internal DAC and phono preamp and without either and a choice of class-D amp, either ICE-Power or Hypex with small power differences, the Hypex slightly more. The units are made in Canada but as others...

Measurements not Revealing Significant Differences Between AVRs and AVPs

You shocked me, like with 50 kV, for even thinking it is the DAC!!!!!!!!! Of all people, I would have though you know what DACs do right?:D By the way, it is a fact that the AV10 use a reference class ESS DAC IC, but not the flagship class that is used in some other AVPs/AVRs such as the...

    AVR vs 2-channel amp

For bragging right, based on S&V try the 4308, that I had, but gave it away when I upgraded/downgraded: Almost 200 W @0.1% THD+N!! Beat a ton of integrated amps. How did it do it? I guess S&V made a mistake, didn't look like typo though as it was collaborated in the text/narrative...

    4K - 8K Resolution and/or Dolby Atmos/DTSX Content Reviews

I think Trachtenberg is trying to appeal to a wider audience. I have seen every Predator movie, and my wife has hated every one of them in the past. But she actually likes Badlands. A little less macho testosterone, a little more female appeal, a little lighter in mood. My favorite Predator...

Parasound A21+ power amp for my front L/R speakers -- overkill? Other options?

I second the ATI recommendation. Their class D amps are fantastic.

Yamaha AVENTAGE 2021 AV Receivers Bulk Up on Power and 8K Features

@PENG Happy holidays to you Sir! You do realize I'm just joking. I'm sure of it, You know me PENG. But yeah Yamaha with them deep pockets they have surely can come up with something better than a Big Android looking volume knob in the middle of their AVR's.

Yamaha AVENTAGE 2021 AV Receivers Bulk Up on Power and 8K Features

Yamaha should have no trouble designing/building class D amps, they should do it, its time to be the leader. 1000 W is a tall order, I would be happy to see 200 W 8 ohm, 350 W 4 ohm, but 500 W 4 ohm dynamic output, THD+N of 0.01% is good order at the speakers out, but better be no more than...

Favorite Amplifier that you could buy, but don’t buy…

...one on top of the other and not worry about the amps getting hot enough to fry eggs! If I were starting out now though, I would be in the class D camp. However the downside is a huge part count and modern manufacturing techniques making repair pretty much impossible except by board...

    Amp protection lights on

Looks can be deceiving. Those amps are not particularly long lived, because of design problems. Class A/B amps are not inherently longer lived than class D.

...are not an option and I like separates. They just started carrying T+A Audio Systems which are half-rack sized so easy to fit. They are class D amps which I’ve never used. Always class A or A/B amps and AVRs. Please share if you’ve had any experience with T+A Audio Systems (please no...

    Amp protection lights on

...Lower-cost analog amps tend to be more reliable than lower-cost class-D amps. Analog amps can also have more headroom than a similarly rated Class D w SMPS amp." Perhaps his caveat is "low cost" class D amps. Maybe his concern is the power supply. I think those are modular and user...

Favorite Amplifier that you could buy, but don’t buy…

They did and even the basic ones sounded vey good. The Pro series had cast aluminum frames, rubber surrounds, Polypropylene cones and they were great.
