D&M just blurred the line again, should they go much further?

It won't shut down the receiver with discrete tone tests but if you sweep, it likely will. Both Denon and Marantz receivers should exhibit similar behavior on models that don't have a dedicated preamp mode to bypass the power amp connections.

D&M just blurred the line again, should they go much further?

Rerouting the main channels to surrounds disengages the connection to the amp for the main channels.

D&M just blurred the line again, should they go much further?

No. It will still do 4Vrms unclipped but without the amp disengaged, the receiver will likely go into protection on a sweep test above 1.5Vrms like the SR8012 did and 3rd order harmonics would, rise do to the unloaded power amp clipping. Read my SR8012 review for more info.

D&M just blurred the line again, should they go much further?

Yes at least when the preouts of the main channels are bypassing the power amp stage. As I found in the SR8012, without a preamp only mode, the power amp would clip driving above 1.2Vrms which could affect the overall distortion of the preouts. This won't happen in the 3600 scenario where the...

    Star Trek: Picard

I'm cautiously optimistic but have some concerns: Alex Kurtzman involvement, just look at STD as example CBS/Hollywood woke movement ruining our favorite shows/movies Patrick Stewart is a bit old to play the part We shall see. I guess make it so #1.

D&M just blurred the line again, should they go much further?

While the Denon AVR-X3600H and Marantz SR6014 are more similar then they are different, the SR6014 does at least have some enhancements from a quick glance such as: 110wpc vs 105wpc of Denon slightly larger power supply (680 watt power consumption vs 670 watts of Denon 3600 model) - note this...

    Yamaha CX-A5200 and MX-A5200

No for 2 reasons: 1. No OSD overlay. Hate setting up processors via PC or tablet. 2. ATI doesn't really cut good deals for reviewers like most manufacturers do.

    Yamaha CX-A5200 and MX-A5200

Yes this is only limited to the front channels which are bridgeable. If you're gonna bridge one, you better bridge them both. I was hoping to just bridge one and use for the center channel and the other 8 amps for my surrounds but that won't work. I'd have to bridge a pair to use as my side...

    Yamaha CX-A5200 and MX-A5200

Yea I was expecting them to at least up the processing to 13CH. I don't think they will replace this unit for a few more years though. Yamaha typically doesn't change flagship products more than once every 4 years or so.

No, I'd probably wait for Sound United to release a pre/pro ubder the Classe brand if it has my wishlist feature set. In the meantime, the CX-A5100 is doing a good job holding me over ;)

Thx, I always find stuff, especially when I'm not looking but rarely get much of anything for it. Hoping they do fix this or I'm finding another Prepro for my rack.
