Perlisten D212s vs JTR Captivator RS1

...D215s. So rather than getting D212's or RS1's I went with the D215s's. They fit in my room fine, they aren't really any deeper than the Monolith V12's THX Ported subs I use now and I have plenty of height and width space. At least I will feel comfortable that I got something that really is...

    Klipsch RP-1400SW 14" at $700 or RSL 12S 12" at $800 or Monolith M15 used $750. Who wins?

I am curious in what way it the 12s beats the Monolithj? Thanks

Building a 7.2.4 cinema in basement and need some guidance

If you’re implying that I don’t know monoprice is the parent company of monolith that’s incorrect. If it’s just because I’m sometimes a jakkass well fair enough.

Definitive Technology Descend DN15 15" Subwoofer Review

Very interesting review, and it's interesting to read your note on testing vs the Monolith SW15. You mention that there are definite differences between the two subs, but in a typical room how much of those differences do you think would be audible, or is it a "different strokes" situation...

    RSL 12s or Emotiva XS15

    Klipsch RP-1400SW 14" at $700 or RSL 12S 12" at $800 or Monolith M15 used $750. Who wins?

Didn't say anything about one "beating" the other....That Monolith performs well. Both were reviewed here, and the RSL is 500 dollars cheaper when not being sold as used. Personally, I would go with the RSL.

Marantz Cinema 30 AVR to Replace the SR8015

Gene, for some people, it doesn’t matter what the AVP and amps are. As long as they are labeled “AVP” and “amps” and not labeled “AVR”, the AVP/amps will automatically sound better. :D That’s how they think. :D

    Subwoofer Performance Tuning

Thanks! I'm running the sub in extended mode with all ports open. I've remeasured with the monolith only, which is the green line. Can I do better?

Did I make a bad decision...

I had a Monolith 15 v2, and it was a solid performer. But honestly, the Ultra X13 gave me some ear-to-ear grins too. It's no slouch in the sound department. Yeah, I've seen the CEA numbers too, and while the Monolith 15 might edge out a tad, the X13's no pushover. Anyway, if you can't make the...

    Which do you recommend?

I would go with the M-215 over the Monolith or SVS 16" subs. But it would be better to get multiple good subs instead of one single powerful sub, at least if sound quality is the priority.

Choosing a New Processor After XMC-1 Woes

For him, I think the AV7706 is his best bet. I bet there would be no audible benefit for him if he bought the AV 10 over the 7706.

SVS PB-1000 Pro or Monolith M-12 for Sony STRHD590

It means digital signal processing (dsp) The svs will have three bands of eq available but unless you take frequency response measurements it’s not that helpful since you won’t know what to boost or reduce anyway. I agree with the monolith.

    Monolith 13" vs 15" V2 (Measurement Discrepancies?)

Your mistake is closing one port. When you do this the woofer is misaligned. There is only one optimal alignment in every speaker design. If you close the ports the box is too big and misaligned. If you close one port then you push it towards those dreadful extended bass alignments. You also...

Going Dual, add another sealed or replace with dual ported subs?

I think the max dimensions that would work would be up to 24 inches wide, 22 inches deep (with grill) and 27 inches tall.

    New Home Theatre Advice

...$1.5k for a receiver, and the rest for speakers, subs, and accessories. For speakers in that price range, I might be looking at Monoprice Monolith THX stuff like some THX-365 standmount speakers and center, along with their THX subs. Hsu Research also has good stuff in that price range, so...

    Second Purchase Iteration (Modest Upgrade)

...tall center. My sub is a Klipsch R-120SW, so any of the above mentioned options would be a significant upgrade. Is the RSL speedwoofer or Monolith a serious step down from either the Rythmik or Hsu drivers? I am OK going up to the ~$1k range if we are seeing significant value in the next...
