    Monoblock amplifiers

It's not cheap to be sure, but I can't think of anything similar for less $ either. One could buy say a Buckeye class D amp and a MiniDSP HSD for comparable capabilities with room correction, DSP, etc and plenty of power on tap. That would cost less. I admit I still like my A/B amps, but will...

Receiver Power Consumption vs Output Power

Did you read the article linked in the first post of this thread? The Sony avr just says power consumption, not max, and can exceed 240W.

I've been using Crown amps to power my subs for over a decade. I have both class A/B and class D and both have been flawless since day one. My class D amp was used when I bought it 13 years ago.

Definitive Technology Descend DN15 15" Subwoofer Review

My SuperCube 8000 has a class HD (not sure what that is exactly but it has an "H" so..) and it's been used nearly every day since I bought it in 2013 and have not had a single issue other than the auto on is not very sensitive.

I will only use $5,000 Class A/B Amps that weigh 100-Pounds for all my subwoofers.

I looked at the amps. Will it be wise to get a 3 channel amp to drive my center channel too?

We review the $9,600 Legacy Audio Focus SE Speakers

I can't get behind spending 1500 for Class D Amp for my home audio, when for the same coin one can get a 200 X 2 Class A/B Amp. Sure one Weighs a lot less than the other and of course A/B Amp power supply isn't as efficient. Who really needs 1200 rms, but then some have 750k speaker's in a 30 x...

Marantz Model 10 Integrated Amp - Purifi Class D Weighs 74lbs!

The pro audio QSC DCA series of power amps are designed to handle 2 ohm loads, so do the Crown DriveCore series amps. The Crown Class D DriveCore series won't generate much heat. So won't the QSC DCA series which have class AB output circuitry but use a SMPS power supply with cooling fans...

Definitive Technology Descend DN15 15" Subwoofer Review

Def Tech's smaller 8" & 10" models the DN8 & DN10 employ Class D & for whatever reason they went for the less efficient Class H for their larger DN12 & DN15 models, the logic for the switch to Class H was mentioned in this overview/review of the Descend subwoofer series here...

Definitive Technology Descend DN15 15" Subwoofer Review

I believe Rythmik also use Class H amps in some of their models that have 600W RMS but the top end HX series are (Hypex module) based with either 800W/900W RMS but I suppose that isn't a very good comparison as Rythmik utilise their highly regarded direct servo-based amp technology compared to...

I played with some Denon settings got my sound close to the Arcam, the Denon got HOT... I could fry eggs on it. That is probably why it burned out earlier. I am getting an exrurnal amp.

    Adding an external power amplifier

I got my Crowns used from a pro-audio marketplace... they were abused for a couple of years, then I bought them... 2x XLS2500 for US$250 each - they have been running flawlessly in my system for about 15 years now. Good quality pro-audio gear can be a recipe for long term peace of mind!

New Line up of AV Receivers from JBL

Yeah most people don’t even know JBL AVRs exist. I know more about AVR than the average consumer, and I didn’t even know JBL AVRs existed. :D Like they say - only time will tell all - if these class-D AVRs are any more or less reliable than other AVRs.
