R Output not producing any sound

I recently discovered that the R output on my amp is not producing any sound other than some light crackling. Art first I thought it might be an issue with the speaker, but I switched the connections between the two speakers and now the original one that was quiet is now producing music while the other is now silent.

My equipment:

Turntable - Music Hall USB-1
Amp - Sansui A-505
Speakers - Philco Air Suspension

I wish I had more information on the speakers, but they're built into a console that houses my records and turntable. Looks like it was made in the 70s-80s if I had to guess.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well since you've already narrowed down the problem to the amp instead of speaker....you might make sure it doesn't follow the source as well (switch the L/R inputs). Probably an amp in need of repair at a guess, tho.

ps Might try cleaning the volume pot with some deoxit or similar, maybe first just work the volume/balance controls back and forth with power off to see if that changes anything...

Seriously, I have no life.
Or, there is an issue in the turntable. See if one channel is causing this.

It's just a good thing to eliminate the possibilities....even for a new tt.
