Hello all,

My name is Mark, an acquaintance of Christopher's.

I understand that Chris may have taken actions many here feel were dishonorable. I am not here to dispute that.

However I would like to inform the board, and especially those whom may have a grievance with him, that Christopher passed away suddenly on the 13th of this month, attributed to heart failure, at his home.

Take this as you may.

Respectfully,

Mark Warner

Mark,
Thanks for taking the trouble to register and let us know. Whatever problems he had when it came to delivering on his commitments, Chris was an incredible resource of information and assisted many of us with our questions.
Sorry to hear of his demise.
Sincerely,
Kurt

Given WMAX's past transgressions, someone has to say this.......

I'm sorry...I just wonder why an "acquaintance" would come on this obscure forum and find an almost 3 year old thread to share with us the death of WMAX. Perhaps he would also like to cover WMAX's debts to forum members via WMAX's estate.

Too close to call...I wouldn't even go there...

Yeah, I know. And I'm most definitely not the type to be unfeeling or uncaring about the troubles of others. That's just how strongly I feel about this. Chris traded his debts on deceit and trying to get people to feel sorry for his self-stated woes.

Perhaps Mr. Warner would like to answer my query. I see he's been logged on to this obscure forum for most of the morning.

Chris already did as good as disappear here and else where. Why would anyone bother with another obfuscation? That doesn't make sense. And when something doesn't make sense we are left with the original message.

What I would like to know is where I can send my condolences and where can I get his Obit? As to the rest of the conjecture I'm willing to take Marks post as is. Chris did have health issues folks. If he is still out there, per your post Tomorrow, I'm sure Chu Gai will find out.

Let's move along.

If true, it is sad to hear. Regardless of the negative things that transpired with some members, I bare no ill will toward Chris and I thought he was knowledgeable and generally good guy on here. It is unfortunate that things went the way they did.

Tomorrow,

I understand why you may feel suspicious of my posting, as well as my motivations for such. Let me give you a quick synopsis so you can better understand my involvement with the situation.

My first interaction with Chris happened late January of this year, in the chatroom of the Parts Express Forum. Since then we have chatted online on the average of about three times a month.

The first time I became aware of some of Chris's past transgressions was probably mid Feb, when someone who chris was in debt too called him out on the PE Chat. Chris Gave me a quick(IE: incomplete) generalization on what had transpired, But I did not push the issue at the time.

Several weeks back, I happened across this thread (as well as an associated, locked thread) which gave me a much better view of what happened. It was at this time I finally created an account here at this forum, though I have perused this forum many times previous.

I was able to chat with him but once after becoming more fully aware of the situation, but had to cut the conversation short due to time limitations before we really breached the subject. He had expressed some desire in our previous chats to recompense his outstanding debts, and I wanted to encourage him to do the proper thing and fulfil these obligations. I regret that I did not more directly address the issue in that chat, but it may not have really mattered, as this last chat occured on May 12th, the day before his untimely death.

I was informed of his passing by his father, who contacted my via Christophers's e-mail account yesterday at 6:43pm Central. The text Reading:

From: Christopher Wolff
To: Mark Warner
Sent: Wednesday, May 22, 2013 6:43 PM
Subject: Re: prototype driver specs

Mr. Warner. This is Christopher's Father. If you knew Christopher and admired his talent the way we did,....I'm very sorry to have to inform you that Christopher died Monday the 13th at home. They think he had a heart attack! I loved my son so much and just can't understand this! My loss is beyond any understanding and my heart is completely broken. He was such a special person.

I hope this has given you some of the information you were seeking. I apologize that I do not have any more information to offer you at this time. My interactions with him have all occorred within the last couple of months, and only via chat. I have never met him face to face, and have never even talked to him. I live almost a thousand miles away and have no reliable methods of contact with his family, in fact some memebers here surely have superior means to contact his estate than myself.

It saddens me that Christopher made poor choices that resulted in him be estranged from the commnity he loved, and that he died in debt to several members of this board.

I hope that all the individuals involved with this situation may soon find peace.

May he rest in peace. I didn't know him but he certainly taught me some things and he designed me a heck of a sub which I never did build. That was the only transaction I had with him and he delivered what was promised in a timely matter. If anyone wants the design PM me and I will give it to you, I would like to see someone build it.

That is a shame. Not to fully excuse his actions, but it always looked to me like the fraud committed against some of the guys here were done out of desperation rather than greed. He certainly wasn't getting rich from it, and it was alienating him from the audio community which he seemed to enjoy. I have no doubt those decisions were anguished over. In other words, he was no Mark Schifter. We would all like to think we would act better in dire circumstances, but how many of us really would. A few unlucky turns and any of us could end up in the same place.

Chris got me started on the DCX route and helped through various PM's and in forum. I've never had a single bad interaction with him here or over an P.E.T.T where he popped up recently.

Regardless of how you feel about Chris this is a shame. It's too young to die. My condolences to his loved ones.

I'm going to give this another 24 hours or so for anyone that would like to comment on Chris' many POSITIVE contributions and then lock the thread.

I personally am deeply saddened by this to me Chris was a DIY audio mentor. I put his expertise up with Dr. Mark and hoped one day to visit him. I know he wasn't perfect, but he was a genius when it comes to loudspeaker construction and engineering.

PDawg if you are offering a free design for review. I'd love to take a look at it.

Seriously, I have no life.
My condolences to the Wolff family. Chris was certainly passionate about audio, and produced some mega systems. Unfortunately there is seldom money to be made in audio, and us dabblers need a day job.
