Welcome to the wonderful world of DRM and the MPAA having no clue what's going on.

Yeah, I hate when added free stuff doesn't live up to my expectations.

:p :D

I agree - it would be nice if it was in HD. But, they added all of that content for no additional cost. Give it time - I'm sure that they'll bring HD and 5.1 to Prime on computers. Perhaps they are worried about the programs that can download the original stream file? I don't know if they work on Amazon, though.

Give it a long time, it's not amazon's doing. MPAA will not allow them to stream movies in HD or with surround to PC.

Is that fairly recent? I'm almost certain that they used to have HD content on the PC - I just can't remember if any of it was free Prime content.

I believe it was a concession to get things for prime. When prime started streaming they revamped the whole system. I don't know if you remember, but in the past you could also download special amazon files to play the digital content if your connection wasn't fast enough, which you can no longer do. It's unclear to me if you can play HD movies that you've purchased, as I have no interest in buying individual movies to stream.

and they wonder why piracy is on the rise... absolutely clueless
Not giving the customer what they want is been proven again and again as "great" business plan....
In other shocking news due to lack of drm in itunes and many many freemium streaming services music sales are actually up... I hope MPAA could learn something from that...

Netflix for the win I guess. Everyone likes to talk about NF's imminent demise but so far they are the only ones doing it correctly IMO. Not Vudu, not Hulu, We will see in a year with Redbox's new service.

Well wadya know. Amazon signs Stephen Kings "Under the Dome" and you can get it in HD on a Windows PC. Amazon get your stuff together and do your customers (that would be me) right.

I don't like that I typically order the HD version of a film on the laptop and it TELLS me "You can't watch this in HD on your PC". I order online because the App on the PS3 blows.
