Tragically Hip - Fully Completely
Wow, it took 24 pages to get some Hip on here? Sad...

1. Tragically Hip - Day For Night: the best rock band ever at their peak
2. Lenny Breau - Five O'Clock Bells: the best guitar player ever
3. Sloan - Twice Removed: rated the best Canadian album ever by Chart! magazine...that would be ahead of every Neil Young, Rush, Hip album
4. Dave Holland Quintet - Not For Nothin': Billy Kilson's drumming is fantastic
5: The Verve - Fourth: an amazing comeback album
6: The Stone Roses - Second Coming: most people prefer their debut album (which is amazing), but I love the guitar playing on this one
7. Low - Things We Lost in the Fire: time for some slowcore goodness
8. Ida - Will You Find Me: beautiful songwriting and harmonies
9. Elliot Smith - Elliot Smith: unrivalled songwriting
10. Iron and Wine - Woman King: beautiful compositions with fantastic arrangements
11. Michael Hedges - Aerial Boundaries: you've never heard acoustic guitar like this (or any guitar for that matter)
12. Pedro the Lion - Control: lyrical content is second to none, and it's nice indie/garage rock to boot!
13. Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway: gotta have some Mark Kozelek
14. The Weakerthans - Reunion Tour: Great indie rock
15. Bill Frisell - Gone Just Like a Train: Love the guitar work, a nice blend of jazz/bluegrass/country
16. Interpol - Antics: a great album from start to finish
17. January - I Heard Myself in You: have fun finding this album, but if you do pick it up, lots of great songwriting, and the lap steel adds soooo much
18. 54 40 - Smiling Buddah Cabaret: awesome album, "Blame Your Parents" is a fantastic song
19. Tragically Hip - In Between Evolution: Phanton Power may be a better album overall but I love the sound of this album
20. Teagan and Sara - So Jealous: great vocal harmonies and a unique sense of melody.

Speaking of albums, I was listening to "Classic Vinyl" on Sirius today in the car. Dusty Street was the DJ. She was talking about an old Stones album, and apparently some seeds rolled out of the cover at some point. She said, "and, no, they weren't sunflower seeds". :D

Some of my favorite albums.

A) What would be considered somewhat 'normal' albums...

1. Dream Theater - Octavarium

2. Jeff Beck - Emotion & Commotion

3. Joe Satriani - Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards

4. Pendulum - Immersion {Official You-tube sampler page}
Heavy Bass/low end/hard hitting percussion group for the most part...their best Album IMO.

Track (music video) - Witchcraft

5. Frou Frou - Details

B) What would be considered 'non-normal' albums...

6. Trentmoller - The Last Resort
Precise, almost SACD quality on CD...nice clean bass and high end as well.

Track - Always Something Better

7. Hatsune Miku (vocaloid - AI singer) - Supercell {Track Samples}
Japanese AI that sings...

8. Exit Tunes Presents (featuring Hatsune Miku) - Vocarhythm

9. Tetsuwan Birdy Decode, Original Soundtrack {Track samples}
Anime soundtrack consisting of Orchestral, Electronic, Rock/Jazz, and cultural/Eclectic music...

C) And I've ordered and have this one coming in, but based off the samples it's his best work yet:

10. Paul Gilbert - Fuzz Universe

Track - Olympic

I found some really cool music from this thread (Sonny Rollins - Way Out West, simply astounding CD!). As such, here are a few of my new favorites.

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - a wonderfully technical jazz group
UMass Dynamics (2 albums) - All vocal group that does popular songs
Antrim Mennonite Choir - All vocal hymns of old favorites
Frank Sinatra (Nothing But The Best) - title says it all
Stan Getz - Girl From Ipanema

I need to review this entire thread again and keep up with it better. Sorry if duplicate entries.

Social Distortion's newest - Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes

AND

Steve Earle - I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive.

SD and Mike Ness have a great set of their punk/rockabilly/country songs...loud, hard, fast and fun.

Steve Earle's is his latest "letter from home" from a guy who's really been around the bend and back. Produced by T Bone Burnett, this is Earle, living in Greenwich Village, but doing southern music with an agenda.

Just wanted to add a couple to the list...

Death Cab For Cutie- Narrow Stairs...excellent sonics IMO
Stephen Stills- Stills Alone...great vocals and acoustic sounds...formerly the disc I used to show off my system
Jason Mraz- We Sing We Dance We Steal Things...excellent blend of music types (ie:jazz, pop, rock etc.) It's my new go-to disc to show off my system. It also includes a track with Colbie Caillat who has an amazing voice

Also check out anything by Frank Marino and Mahogony Rush for some great almost Jimi Hendrix style guitar work

Just one today, not twenty...John Hiatt's "Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns". Hiatt is one of our best songwriters and has been covered a lot by other performers, but hearing Hiatt do his own music in that strange 100 year old sounding voice is a unique pleasure. Now and again, I pick up a Hiatt CD and it always ends up high on my playlist. This is no exception; his eccentric take on life and fine writing make this one more fine CD from a guy most people have never heard of.
