My first was Why? as well,
But now that I've heard your reasons I completely understand, Cause God knows those simply aren't available on cassette.

Seriously, what kind of response would you expect?

Is this bring a troll to the forum day or what?

Easy lads. I can understand this from a nastalga point of view. If the OP has some 8 tracks, and was able to find himself a working unit, more power to him. He never mentioned audio quailty in his post. Personally, I would have tried finding that music on a better format but hey, different strokes for different folks. ;)

It's a testament to something that it still works after all these years and that the tapes you have have not fallen apart. I've never quite figured out just what the name "Realistic" implies....realistic sound or be realistic about what you expect.

Actually, it'd be kind of fun to mess with visitors by hiding everything else and playing 8 tracks as if you living in "the land time forgot"!

that would really be a great time playing 8-tracks again...

we used to have some really good times when we had one of those darn things.... I had some great old tapes that would get played over and over again....

Some times it's just fun...

We have friends that have an 8 track that they received as a white elephant gift with some cassettes. It was a hoot.

I recall my brother (older) with his dynamite 8 , and a couple of Mott the Hoople and Alice Cooper 8 track tapes, what a hoot his parties looked like a tree hugging event :)

8-tracks rule

All you need to complete this picture is a 1970 Camaro (primer paint optional), an alligator clip with feathers hanging from the rearview mirror and one of those wooden crates for holding 8-tracks on the front seat.

Then all you need to do is pop in that long lost copy of Deep Purple or Iron Butterfly in the 8-track player.

Oh, and you might need to stick a matchbook under the right corner of the tape to keep it from skipping tracks.

I remember taking an 8-Track player and it's tape cassette apart; it was a miracle that they even worked at all, with the way the tape looped back into the center.
The Wow and flutter was just something we got used to, I guess.
I had a Realistic 8-Track recorder and made tapes for my quad 8-Track player in the car.
I still have both out in my garage.....and I don't know why.:D

Brave man! I avoided 8 tracks like the plague. They are a mechanical nightmare.

If I would have known I have a mint Pioneer Quadraphonic 8 track player and a reverb to go with it. I just don't have the heart to throw this stuff out. Any free takers since we're on the track?
