update!

Ok it's been awhile since I've posted an update. The carpet is in, we love it! We have the couch down there and we need to order some theater seats for our first row. I wired the receiver last weekend. I gotta say the new receiver really brings my Klipsch speakers to life, it sounds so good!

We have watched a few movies and I've played some xbox. A 100 inch screen changes everything. I still have some work to do though. Some touch up paint, the carpet guys scratched the walls a little bit in a few spots. And I have to prime and paint the bathroom. I'll put some updated pictures up tonight.

...and now work grinds to a halt... :p

The difference between the before and after pics is amazing. It sure turned out well. Looks like it must have cost a fortune. If it didn't then that's just the icing on the cake.

In my av closet I have a fan that kicks on when it get hot. I haven't really tested it yet since I only have the new receiver in there. But I was thinking what if I drilled like 1 inch holes in the shelves themselves, so the heat makes it's way up to the fan? Just a thought anyone have any expeience with anything like this?
I have no knowledge myself, to offer you, but I was linked a rather interesting PDF from MidnightSensi with how cooling can be obstructed or improved, in an AV rack. I suppose there might be a nice tidbit or two to pick up from there:

MidnightSensi said:
Believe it or not, open racks don't cool as well as well designed closed ones. It's a chimney effect. Check out this link with lots of good stuff:

Actually, Rickster probably gave you the best easy solution already:

Sounds like a great idea.
Anyway that you can add to natural convection, hot air escaping out the top and cool air entering down low is the way to go.

Beautiful theater! Looks like many years of enjoyment in your future.

There are a lot of little things I have to finish, if I ever stop watching movies. But I did start painting the bathroom. I don't mind painting, but bathrooms are a pain. I need another coat and I'm done. I cleaned the paint of the media rack glass doors. It looks sharp.. Ill get some pics up soon.

I'm not big on PJ's and movie setups, but looking at what some of you have done is making me envy you. It looks absolutely fantastic. Popcorns on the shelve added that last 10% to it :)

update!

Well I finally convinced the wife to order a few theater seats. I'm only ordering two Bello theater seats for now, but it's progress. They should be coming in this week. We've been using the room a lot, but we have yet to have a party breaking the theater in. I'm thinking a ufc fight or I'll holdout for football season. I'll put some pictures up when the chairs come in.

Update.....

Here are a few shots of the new theater seats. It only took me a few months to get these up... better late then never right.

I added a few godies to the AV closet. I got a deal on a tivo permiere. I also found a good price on a Pioneer BDP-320. We've been using the room a lot. Call of duty black ops in 100 inches is awesome.

I play on xbox so if you play.... add me I'm always up for a few rounds. MY tag is sixsec assassin.

Looks great! Your paint colour is pretty light for a projector HT. Do you get much/any refection off the walls or ceiling? My paint is bit darker, but not by much. My ceiling and trim are kinda slate grey. Some of the hard core guys go extremely dark for a projector, but I can't go that far - like you, I suppose. How are you liking the AE3000? I'm renovating my basement rec room and will be installing an AE4000.

There is a little bit of reflection. I have thought about possibly going a little darker on the front wall. But why bother if the lower half of the wall is white. I also have thought about maybe painting the ceiling tiles in the ht. The wife would kill me, there are other projects I need to be doing. But we re really enjoying the room.

The AE3000 is really nice. I could kick myself. I bought it before the basement was finished. Because it was on sale. A moth later the AE4000 comes out with better specs and it's cheaper. That'll teach me

I like how you made a door out of the closet housing your electronics. I take it you can get behind that somehow though, right?

Great job.. I have a couple of questions though
Why did you use Delta FL. Your basement looks dry enough. I bought some to use with mine but ended up just carpeting over concrete. It has been a year and I haven't had issues.
Also, Is your basement below or above grade. My understanding is that if it is below grade, extruded polystyrene should be used.
