What movies do you like that critics/everyone else hated?

Are there movies you like that reviewers or all your friends say are bad? List them here, I'll start.

Battlefied Earth: Yes, I liked this one, it was fun/entertaining.

Waterworld: Made ~250 million at the box office but was also the most expensive ever made at the time. I think people considered this one bad just because it lost money.

The Postman: I like post apocalyptic movies, the Tom Petty cameo was great too

I liked Waterworld but I feel it needs a directors cut. Seems like there was part of it missing. I also liked Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band with Frampton and the Bee Gee's. Yes it is silly but they did a great job on all the songs.

A lot of people dislike it and it was also a commercial flop but I like it. The music is fantastic.

Critics and I rarely see eye to eye. A couple of weeks ago I was home sick watching a little TV to pass the time. First I saw a movie that was rated at 4&1/2 stars. I don’t see ratings that high very often so I figured it was worth the time. It was called Children of Men. What crap! I forced myself to watch the whole thing thinking that, “any moment, it’s gonna get good.” Never happened.
Then the movie Armagedon was coming on. Cool I thought. I like that movie. Wonder what it’s rated. Oh, I see it gets 1 star. One star? Really? I just don’t get it.

btw: Blue Velvet scores 7.8/10 on IMDB after almost 52000 votes and Roger Ebert is a complete tool.

OK...I'll bite. I saw Clash of the Titans on Friday and liked it. My expectations were quite low, especially since the trailer suggested that the only thing I'd be interested in was Zeus/Neeson exclaming "Release the Kraken" (actually a Norse monster). While that was the high point, other moments included Pegasus and the make-up on the male characters. If my only expectation on this CGI extravaganza was that it take my mind off the world or 2 hours, it succeeded.

I have to admit "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight" was awesome. Great rendition.

One of my personal favorites has always been C.H.U.D. (cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers). Critics hated it and so did most people, but I really liked it in all it's awfullness (It's just so bad it kinda makes it good).

Another on I can always watch is Godzilla, the one with Mathew Broderick. It's stupid but it's entertaining as long as you leave your brain behind - far behind.

I think Soldier with Kurt Russell was pretty under rated. It got pretty bad reviews and a lot of people didn't seem to get it either, plus it moves along slooowwly but I think it's a great story and that makes up for a lot.

There's probably several more I could come up with if I tried to care what other people thought about the things I like.

I think I'm the only person who thinks that "The Phantom Menace" is the best of Star Wars prequels; in the whole series I think it's better than all but the Original SW and The Empire Strikes Back (which are both wayyyyy above and beyond all of the other movies).

I loved "Lady in the Water" and actually liked Battlefield Earth. Most people don't get scifi so that's why so many people bash it. Movies speak to different people. My favorite film is Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. My parents can't watch it.

Heaven's Gate. Considering the time period, the large distances and the fact that most things moved at the walking pace of horses, life in the old west must have been mainly very boring. The movie portrayed that quite well. I only saw it once.

A true classic of bad horror. I seem to recall that the video box showed a pair of evil glowing eyes leering at some feminine ankles from a storm drain.

I have a favorite genre...New York movies....the newer Godzilla is one of those, right up there with Ghostbusters.

There's probably several more I could come up with if I tried to care what other people thought about the things I like.

+1 for idea, I'm strong believer in circle of quality - if you go bad far enough you might just be a bit good
Great example is "Epic Movie" - I kinda liked it, but you are really should set you expectation really low

p.s Battlefield Earth wasn't so bad at all, I don't know why all the bashing and hate
