Does the Denon seem to power those alright? What are your thoughts on the result of powering it with the Denon? Your speakers sure are close together, you might benefit a bit from putting the audio rack next to the TV and putting the speakers a little farther apart. This could be relative to your seating though, so I could understand if that's the best arrangement you can get right now.

Thats just it. I tried them with my Onix SP3 and I didn't like the sound at all. The Denon in this small room sounds just fine but I wanted to experiment with a solid state power amp before I finally decide to just let the Denon power it.

Since the Denon is solid state as well I find it unlikely you'll notice a huge difference. The Denon should really be fine to drive those speakers, and it should also handle a 4 ohm load just fine unless you are really pushing it hard (can't imagine why you would need to in a room that small).

Yeah no way I could push it hard in this apartment. I've already gotten three written noise complaints :)

Pretty sure its 8ohm.

I've always felt the need to give clean, dedicated power to nice speakers. Your probably right though and I don't need it. Don't be surprised if you see it up for sale on the forums in the next few weeks :D

Manufacturers don't rate most of their receivers for 4 ohms because they think people will connect 4 ohm speakers to them and crank it. The receiver, while not "rated" to handle 4 ohm loads can indeed handle them just fine. I've never had a receiver just shut off, or clip uncontrolably because it encountered a 4 ohm load. I'd say save your money and not buy an amplifier until you have a space that necessitates more power. An apartment is not a place for big power amplifiers, believe me I know as a fellow apartment dweller. My living room is bigger than yours and my Vandersteen towers (rated 4-7 ohms) sound fantastic running them off my little Teac CD/Receiver. That little thing is rated 25 watts per channel and gets plenty loud enough to annoy the neighbors. However I have told all my neighbors that I play loud music during the daytime sometimes and I feel it's pretty well understood among them that it's no big deal. Tenants in the past have been a little less understanding.
