anybody hear of this company? seems they only do internet sales. their intimus T6 tower looks awesome. i'm in the market for a whole new system. unfortunently, my whole system was stolen. my old system consisted of klipsch rf83's, yamaha reciever, and hsu sub. i wasnt happy with the rf83's. for ht they were pretty good, but for music i hated them. i do 70% music 30%ht. my sound room is medium to large. im in the market for a tower thats got very good bass for 2ch listening. sub will be used... just like the option of not having to use one. i listen to metal and rock. solid chest thumping kick-drum is a must. my budget is about $2000 for towers. if anybody owns these intimus T6's please chime in.

My opinion is that it's very difficult to execute good bass and keep everything else going well. So you'll have to be a stickler. But I've heard for music Salk Songtowers are simply a dream. I suggest you go listen to some of those. Check out some B&W speakers at your local Home Theater Store.

Listen to some Paradigms.

I'd suggest you not add the sub until later.

Don't forget to look into vintage stuff. There are some great deals to be had.

Aperion does free shipping both ways so you can always ship em back.

panny; I own all Aperion speakers; including the 6T's and I have not looked back! I listened to several brands and in the end; with Aperion's generous 30 day free trial in YOUR HOME and if you don't like them; ship them back its free. IN fact; free ship both ways! I listen to alot of heavy metal (Metallica; God Smack; Pantera)etc and IMO the 6T's running 2 channel sound incredible! Movies are outstanding as well. Lastly; their customer service is TOP NOTCH! Great guys who go out of their way to help you. If you go the Aperion route; be sure to ask about 'B' stock-- incredible value! Good Luck!

nice... sooo, you would say the the T6's have pretty good kick-drum... solid midbass? i figured the rf83's with their three 8" woofers would excell in the bass dept. i was highly disappointed.

Why hello there!

Of course I'm biased since Aperion puts food on my table, but I find that the 6Ts hit the midbass region with authority without a sub. They are flat to about 40 Hz, as you can see from the graph here:

If you need any help with anything just let me know, thanks!

Makes me wonder about your room, placement, setup, etc. If anything, I would have considered the 83's to be a tad bit bass/midbass heavy. I just say that cause it makes me wonder if any thing that replaces them will satisfy you unless other adjustments are made. Just a thought.

i dont care what size room you had the rf83's in... you can tell immediately that it lacked in bass. if you think their to bassy then you need to have your hearing checked. i had emotiva mono blocks to each speaker and it still lacked in bass. just a crappy speaker for music. excellent for movies.

Certain rooms and room placement can make the best speakers (or subs) in the world sound like absoulte garbage.

yeah... but this room wasnt perfectly square and i measured every thing up... toed in the speakers and used a mic and spl meter. rf7's sound a thousand times better for music than the rf83's. there's a reason why the rf7's are hard as hell to find. nobody wants to let them go.

Aperion Audio is noted for their excellent business practices such as a no risk trial period (if you decide you do not like the speakers within 30 days they give you your refund as well as pay for returning shipping). Most ID companies charge the consumer for return shipping. Aperion also has a 10 year warranty on their speakers. I can't think of any other popular ID brand that offers a warranty like this. I really like what I see and hear about this company, they are like a breath of fresh air :). If I was looking for new speakers I would consider their products since it would not cost me anything to audition them in my home.

Good luck and happy auditioning! :D

When it comes to Internet-Direct, Aperion runs what may be the best business model. I've had the pleasure to visit their HQ once, super nice people, very calm, relaxed atmosphere. I've had four fellow parishoners from my church buy Aperion on my recommendation based upon their criteria, they are thrilled with their purchase.

One thing to keep in mind with the 6T's, don't attach the spikes until you've broken in the speakers 75-100 hours and have played with their position enough to really have found the sweet spot.

Hey Hicks, is that an anechoic/free space measurement or in room? If its anechoic you are going to get amazing in room extension.

I have not heard the T6, but know of one person who compared them directly to the speakers I have for mains and rated them as almost the same (to me, a very good thing).

With a -3db of 36Hz, I can't tell the difference between the M80s with and without a sub on a lot of music. I would think the T6 would be similar.

I have had the 6T's for over a year now. I got them and a pair of M80's from Axiom in house for a comparison last year for a few weeks. I really liked the 6T's, as did my wife.

The 6T's for me are more than sufficient bass wise for listening to music, I do not use a subwoofer for music. Type of music ranges from Nightwish, Genesis, Type O Negative, Dream Theater. I had a friend over last week and we just listened to random music for an hour, and he was pretty impressed with them as well bass wise. Then I played the Peter Gabriel song Growing Up from the Up album. Halfway through my friend just looks at me asks- "Is it still just the front 2 speakers playing?". Side note- highly recommend that song as a demo for sound stage/imaging.
Anyway, these speakers work well for me.

The Axiom M80's are also great speakers in the price range, and if you're going to demo I would recommend demoing both brands if you can. It's all personal preference. I had a more detailed review on another website, I think I forgot to post it here. But here was the summary-

Overall so far, I would have to say there is no losing in choosing between Aperion and Axiom, it is a matter of personal preference, but neither speaker will leave you disappointed.

In summary, I find myself currently favoring the 6T's. Now, if someone had asked me two weeks ago which speaker would I prefer, one that goes a little deeper and loves to be played loud and is more efficient, or one that performed a little better with soundstage and imaging and excelled at the high end, I would have said give me the efficient ones that have more bass!
Now that I've been able to actually compare them, I find that what I actually prefer is not what I thought it would be.

Thanks Amaraas, yours was the review I was thinking of.

I would agree that doing a final comparison of two sets of speakers in your room is the best way to make a final decision. Return shipping on a pair of towers (~$50), if you go with another ID company, is a small price to pay for finding the right speakers.

I absolutely agree with your thoughts on the 6T's vs. the Axioms. Aperion speakers just offer more detail across all models than similar-priced brands.
