How about we start a Politics forum?

Sorry, but I'm getting tired of all the political threads in the steam vent.

Can the mods start a new politics only forum, so those that are so inclined can go there and argue with each other? I come here to learn about electronics, not get into philosophical discussions.

This is the place for non audio discussions. Besides who argues here. :D

I find discussing politics fun. But I guess some people don't. Still I will preface any title of a political thread so you know and can avoid it.

I could say the same about surge protector threads. I don't mind helping; but it ends up being the same answer over and over.
Immediately followed by the same arguments.
I've learned to stay out of them; since no one is forcing me to get involved. It's complex, and too much typing anyway.

As much as I'd like a projector some day. I've no interest now; so I stay out of those threads too.
I don't know enough about projector and screens to make a comment.
I wish most would take the same approach with political threads.:)

I'm all for it. Can we ban chicklets there?
Doesn't matter 'cause I won't be visiting that forum.
My problem with the political threads is the fact that when some one I respect from a pure AH.com standpoint posts something that I disagree with politically, and continues to do so, it detracts from my willingness to read anything they have to say.
I don't feel that the recent rash of political threads, and yes I'll call them Obama bashing, have been terribly constructive to why we're ultimately here; Audio and HT discussion.

Nomo's post caused my ADD to kick in but if there's a Political Thread Forum I would like to put myself out there as a moderator and we should eliminate green chicklets ... red rep and insults would be mandatory. That way Davemcc could just come out and call socialists every name in the book. :D

I want to put Buckeye on probation just for logging on. :D

j/k ... the political threads don't really bother me and it keeps the Jersey crowd happy so what does it matter if it's in the vent or in a forum of it's own?

Would that be a real Political Thread Forum, or just a forum for WWE smackdown and Rush Limbaugh wannabes?

I do agree with this ( not the political forum) but I think instead of banning political discussion all together, I believe a way to bridge the gap is to "tidy" the steam vent up by having the moderators merge the constructive poltical disscusions together that deal with similiar underlying issues and deleting the threads that are just an attempt to troll.

When I log into the steam vent and want to talk about football and other stuff all I see on the first page are poltical threads started all by the same individuals. It is frustrating and it makes coming here less enjoyable.

I like the political sub-forum thingy. That way it can be split into a Republican, Democrat, Green Party, Libertarian, and Other sub-sub-forums.

A user would have to register their party affiliation and then could only post in their forum.

Oh wait, that's like voting in the primaries...:D

As was stated earlier, don't care. I won't be visiting it either.

The way that I surf posts, the sub-forums aren't that important to me. I just click "New Posts" and cruise through them.

I understand that others surf differently, and I'm just making an observation.

I surf the same way. I rarely look at the actual sub-forum pages. It would not change the way I make my way through AH.

One request I could make, don't let Alex become a moderator in that forum. The mods should at least know what all the big words mean before banning somebody.:p

He might not start it...but he sure as heck will finish it. :D
A lilttle to much credit there Adam...I like the way he finished a recent thread when he lite Jamies fuse;). Talk about someone who is bored...;).
Speaking for myself, my participation has declined steadily on the forum because of the usual suspects and their subjective agendas. Its just not fun atleast for most.

I was just kidding around, Bill. I saw "won't start it" and about instantly completed that common phrase in my mind...and it had to get out. :D

Seeing as how I hardly ever read political threads (the posts are longer than my attention span permits, and I don't know what the eff most people are talking about), please don't take that as an endorsement. :)

Also, I hope that you stick around. It's great having you here. If political threads annoy you, join us in the boring thread!

How about we start a new section called "Politics and Religion".
Then anybody who clicks on that forum automatically receives a 1 day ban.
