What would be a good 5.1/7.1 speaker system

I just stumbled accross http://www.acousticsounddesign.com/core/view_BigProduct.cfm?pid=1212&sc=27 the Premier Acoustics PA-6F Home Theater Speaker System that can be found for around $900 + tax etc.

I have heard the older Polk audio monitor 70 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882290016 and have enjoyed the sound from it too, I could order a similar pack from polk audio for around th same price.

What are your guys's thoughts on these speakers? Would you have another set of spekers to recomend?

I have considered the Behringer 2030p's, but I have yet to be able to listen to them, and like tower speakers for the left and right front speakers better.

I will be getting a denon 1910 or onkyo 606 reciever, or a little higher modle (if there is a great sale on one) I know I will have TrueHD, and DTS-HD to handle audio through the HDMi port.

Thank you,

Chris

zzsounds.com has a generous return policy. If you wanted to try the B2030P, that'd probably be the place to do it. It's where I bought my pair, course I didn't return them. :)

Haven't heard the other two mentioned, but I don't like the idea of cheap floorstanders... Premier Acoustic looks mildly interesting though.

Stating your budget and room dimensions would help.

Oh-yah, budget I want to keep the speakers + sub under $1000, room is about 10' by 20'

I will be in this place for 1 year, and will move later perhaps with a larger room, so planning for the future is good too.

The speakers can be 5.1 or 7.1 I will eventually get up to 7.1 but not needed for the room I am in atm.

This setup will outperform those nicely: https://svsound.com/products-sys-sbs_black.cfm
You state that like it's a fact. Better than the PA or Polk stuff, perhaps, but certainly not better than the B2030P. The SVS subs are tops though.

Ascend is great, check them out for speaker systems. If you want something a little more stylish: axiom.

It's always best to audition whatever you can at your local audio places too.

I think for a specific home theater system the SVS will give you more LFE and a really good sub. I personally like this approach for most folks. For the audiophile I suggest the DIY approach. You can get reference recession buster pairs at Madisound with crossover and drivers for around 300 bucks per pair. Build them in a reference cabinet and you'd blow away a lot of commercial speakers IMO.

I would also look at the BIC Acoustech they also have at acousticsounddesign.com. A PL-76 set will run you 1K. You can upgrade the sub to a PL-200 for $59. It's a new sub, and the design is by Hsu, I think it might be a very good subwoofer. And look at the sensitivity rating on those speakers, they would blaze, the dynamic response would be great for home theater.

The this that makes chosing the speakers hard is I can't hear them before I buy them. I have heard the Polk audio monitor 50 at frys I liked it a lot, thus the monitor 70 is somehting I am considering.

All I have to go on for the online speakers are reviews and advice from audiophiles.

I only wish I could find a store with some of the speakers you guys have recomended x.x

I know it sucks. My town has NO audio places to go audition. The closest city is 45 miles away and even they have a limited number of places. I'm very picky so I just did what most people would never do and ordered a bunch of different pairs all at once and auditioned that way. Luckily I liked the cheapest pair the best so eating some of the return shipping charges wasn't so bad. :)
