I offer my apologies. I had to skip AH for a couple of days. I don't think Adam can relate to that.;)
Nor can I? What does one do on these 2 days? This sounds scary.

My life without Adam's posts or reading Wmax's sermon's on stuff or Alex's humor.

I can't bear the thought. Though I may not be on for a few days after August 8th. But it's my honeymoon so I think I will be entertained.

I'm re-ripping my songs into apple lossless. My 250 gig hard drive had a bad power cord a new one costs half the cost of the drive itself.

Thought some of you might appreciate this recipe:

The recipe:

1. Cut two slices of bacon into thin strips and fry, reserving 1 tbsp of bacon fat.
2. Add the cooled grease to a blender with 8 scoops (a quart) of French vanilla ice cream, 6 tbsp whole milk, 2 tbsp pure maple syrup, and a pinch of salt.
3. Pulse to blend (it’s very thick, so you may need to mash the mixture down with a spatula between pulses) until the shake moves easily, about 30 to 90 seconds.
4. Pour into chilled glasses and serve (makes 3 ½ cups)

The story:

“It’s a well-documented and indisputable fact that everything tastes better with bacon,” says Reid, the kitchen equipment specialist on America’s Test Kitchen and former editor for Cook’s Illustrated. “In general when I cook, I like to mess around with the interplay between sweet and savory (in the book I also have a salted variation of a tamarind, sugar and chile shake, and a toasted oatmeal shake with scotch in it). I saw a maple-bacon donut at Voodoo Donuts in Portland, Oregon that intrigued me, and I was also thinking about breakfast plates, where you douse pancakes or waffles in maple syrup, which inevitably gets all over the bacon too. It always tastes great.” Almost blasphemously, Reid’s recipe only uses some of the rendered bacon fat, casting the bacon itself aside as a pre-shake nibble. “I considered suggesting to crumble the bacon on the shake as a garnish, but I thought that might be a bit too much for the bacon disinclined among the readers.” Add the complementary sweetness of real maple syrup, and you’ve got a dessert that drinks like a meal.

Even I find the bacon shake repulsive.

What's up guys? Tomorrow is the beginning of the weekend to my way of thinking. How the Hoff got back on prime time is beyond me and what's worse is that he's accompanied by Sharon Osborne and the worst yet is that they're on my TV and I can't get rid of them.

I bought some more records. Barry Manilow, Bruce Springsteen and Gregorian Cants. Oh yeah, Jewish Melodies too ... don't want anybody feeling left out. :)

No I didn't. I just don't find him to be an annoying useless sack of (bleep) like the other two. With the other show I don't watch it's the Brit that put's me off. Go figure.

What does one do on these 2 days?
One curls up on the sofa hoping to fall asleep or to feel better while waiting for the health care system to provide adequate care. Only five weeks until my next test and if that finds my problem, I may be only months away from an operation or other cure. If it finds nothing, I will have to wait another couple of months before I get some other test.

Just to be clear, that's a six week wait to get an ultrasound for a potential hernia on top of the over a year I've already been seeking treatment. Yay, gov't health care.

If that was me I think I would be trying alternative anything. Eating weeds and smoking bacon followed up by a trial Vegan stint. Anything aside from not being well. Maybe a trip to some country where they might try to suck it out. :D

If I were you I would have resorted to prayer by now. That's an atheist joke, not a serious recommendation ... unless of course you want it to be.

Best wishes,
Alex

That explains your constant begging for me to pretend I'm the queen...

If I had a passport, I think I'd take a trip to the USA where there is still access to timely medical care.
sorry about your situation with your health care. I sure hope the us government thinks long and hard about what they want to do here. I am very concerned about it.

Apple lossless? Seriously? Have you ever heard of FLAC?

And you call yourself an Audioholic!

For shame!

;)

I recently re-ripped all of my CDs into FLAC, now I am working on my dad's collection.

They stream to the Denon AVR-3808CI like a champion and sound, well, lossless. :D

Sorry for my ignorance Dave (and sorry about your health problems), but is there any private health care available/allowed in Canada, and if so, is it just prohibitively expensive?
