$350 amp options?

I'm about to purchase an Emotiva UPA-2 for my monitor 70 but wanted some last minute advice on any alternatives I should look at. Pro amps are not in the running as this will be in my open audio rack so it must look nice. Plus I don't want to buy more XLR to RCA cables and a Art cleanbox.

Did you look in the bottom of my setup? I have an adcom GFA 535II that I bought in 89 or 90 I think. Still runs like a champ. If the GFA 545 is in good condition then I would get it. They sound great.

But why not an A-500? They look fine and have RCA inputs. Hard to beat for 199 bucks.

I'd have to cut the rack "ears" off.....I will have to wait and see if this guy accepts my offer for the Carver.

He counter-offered on the Carver and it was more than I wanted to spend so that's out. I went to bid on the 545 and realized payment was only money order or check so that's out. One rotel sold and the other is now pending.:eek:

I just reread the A500 thread started by WmAx and just don't get a warm and fuzzy with it, plus the looks just don't do it for me. I'm going to sit on it for today and decide if the UPA-2 is what I want, it does come with a warranty which is a plus over the used models I'm looking at.

Did you read that review done by the audio critic? The amp tested well. And Matt ,come now, you don't look at an amp you listen to it. :rolleyes: your starting to sound like my wife;)

Still considering it....If I could hide it and it wasn't going in my living room, it would be a non-issue.

Mint condition Adcom GFA-555. Powerful (actual 237x2 into 8 Ohms ; factory specs are under-rated). 350+ x 2 into 4 Ohms. Typical eBay price well under $400.

I have two BPA-1 and I still may use one of them. I accidently broke one of the negative speaker terminals off the back of the other so I don't know what I'm going to do with that.:mad:

I have a bid on an Adcom 555 that ends in two days so we are in a holding pattern right now.
