Please HELP me choose a sub!

Hey guys,

I have been reading around this forum for the last couple of days.

I have a Rotel and B&W system in my main listening/watching room. The room is 22' X 24'. When I first set up the system my friend gave me a Klipsch RW12 sub (you can't refuse a freebie).

I never like the sound of it. It seemed sort of flubby to me. Recently, the sub fried so I have been looking for a replacement. Maybe the klipsch failing is a blessing in disguise!

Anyway, I start reading on the net looking for a replacement and I just am getting more and more confused! Seems every forum has their chosen favorite.

From what I have read it seems I should look for a sealed sub. I know its a big room but I am not looking to shake the house. I use it about 50/50 for audio (ROCK) and HT. When I first started looking The Velodye DEQ series interested me, then SVS, then HSU.............

I am confused!!!!!

Can I get some input on choosing a sub for say 500-1000? I am looking to purchase in the next few days. And, I DONT WANT DIY.

Please, pretty please?

I did check them out but it seems they are still 30 days out.

How Much are you looking to spend ? Even though your not looking to shake your house And these probably could I think you'll like the quality and sound of these subs and wont sound muddy very clean solid base IMO . The SVS PB12NSD or SVS PB13 ultra and if you need maybe a smaller sub if room is a issue the SVS sb12-plus or for the PB12-plus . Theres a lot of great subs out there but I had a Velodydne dps 10 and it was decent for movies but music it was bad imo very muddy it just wasnt musical and then I bought The SVS pb12nsd and what a great sub and reasonable priced it was great for music and movies too for 599 its hard to beat without building your own "DYI" . Im upgrading now to the SVS PB13-Ultra and not because the nsd didnt satisfy me im just greedy . Im sure some will have others they recommend so you'll have some nice choices. I may be opening a can of worms here...
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the only advantage a sealed sub has over a well designed ported sub is size. A well designed ported sub will not be "boomy" as many people say.

PB12 Plus does sound like its perfect for his application and exactly what he's looking for .

For your room size, assuming an 8’ ceiling height, and spending < $1000 I’d suggest an AV123 MFW-15 or Epik Sentinel. BTW, patience is a virtue especially when you want to obtain the right product.

The SVS Plus would work but it’s a budget buster.
