I'm saddened by that story. Many die needless and horrible deaths every day, but it still pains me to think about it.

I wonder if any of those people is going to give it a second thought. Perhaps the $20 that they saved was worth it to them.

Maybe the Silent Guardian non-lethal microwave system should be installed in these stores during the holidays.

I realize that Black Friday is a big deal for retailers and has become a traditional event for consumers. But it's somewhat surprising that more violence doesn't happen because of the "first in line or else" promotions of late.

I hope that this disaster will change the mind set when it comes to the so called bargains that are to be had by the pushing and shoving.

I really thought this was going to be a thread about the great deals you found today, a happy thread, so to speak. That is just pathetic, I notice the article said the police shut the store down, not Walmart itself. That's just sad if it's true, the manager should have closed immediately, hopefully he/she asked the police to do it to try to avoid rioting.

Crap like that is why I prefer to shop online in general and avoid the general buffoonery that occurs with most sales events.

I would like to see Wally World hit with a lawsuit at around 500 million for a wrongful death lawsuit, because they were very negligent in the preparations for this large a crowd. I think they should put up turnstiles and barriers for people to walk through. Like the theme parks use for the rides. I'm not sure that's the answer, but i know for a fact if there are stuff like that up there wouldn't be any major crowd pushes that could kill people.

From the looks of the pics, from the link above, the crowd was huge, i think i read there were approx 2000 people.
