There are a few that sound pretty good. I wouldn't call them great soundboards or anything like that but they capture the vibe very well....:D

At Home and in Town

At Home - two new SACDs just arrived;
1) Poncho Sanchez's "Conga Blue"
2) Albert King with Stevie Ray Vaughn's "In Session".
Both are wonderful. :)

In Town - at "Mac's on Main" in Columbia SC, local open mike blues-fun, fun, fun! :D

A fine CD by a fine group is Brighter Than Creation's Dark, by the Drive By Truckers. These folks and their Lynyrd Skynyrd vibe have owned guitar heavy southern rock for a while, especially in Southern Rock Opera. Their new opus, Brighter Than Creation's Dark is an excellent 19 song portrait of people at the margins. The addition of pedal steel and some acoustic songs make this album more musically diverse than they have done in the past. It's wry, smart, sardonic and sad in places...totally listenable. I don't know if they have a vinyl version (they brag about recording on 2 inch analog tape) but the sound on the cd is finely jangly and well staged. A triple A recommendation for lovers of this sort of music. I can't stop listening to it.

Oh my GOD!!!I just put in Rage Against The Machine's first record....The sound is Stunning on this disc, Everything is right in your face no effects no reverb on the vocals nothing...I had it turned up to zero on my Denon and it made me jump but stupid clean and fat as hell. I would give this one a listen if you have never heard it..It is smoking:D:D:D
