plasma won't stay on

power went off for a few seconds yesteday, and now my pioneer pdp-5040 won't stay on, when you turn on it turns itself off into standby mode, tried manually and with remote, anyone have a similar experience and were you able to solve it. any help appreciated.

Is your TV plugged into a surge device, or power conditioner?
If not, I'm wondering if you caught a power spike.

Try unplugging it for a few minutes, and plug it back in and see what happens.

Saw this on their site:
1. press the main power switch located in the lower left corner of the Plasma.

2. Press the Stanby/On button, either using the remote of the button on the right side of the panel.

If the unit still does not power on, please contact our Plasma support at 1-800-421-1625.

These types of events can be highly damaging to electronics these days, especially microprocessor circuits. These sort of events are not prevented by surge protectors and power conditioners.

I have said this many times, that to properly protect modern electronics, a smart UPS with response times to narrow over voltage AND under voltage coupled with response times in the range of 1 to 3 msec is a mandatory expenditure. Everybody worries about the surges, but the sags are, if not more, as damaging.
