Bose / Klipsch Saga - LOL

Ok - I'm not married to Best Buy. I have heard good things about Klipsch. However, I'm not married to them either! I am returning the Bose so I am open for suggestions....... Do tell!

Ok - Buget is around 1K
Room is around 18' x 16':D
SVS SBS-01 w/ PB10-NSD or if you can muster $150 go with the upgrade PB12-NSD.

If you like the Klipsch Quintet III speakers you can always just buy them and go with the SVS PB10 sub. I have heard those klipsch speakers and they sound pretty good for their size with very good output. But whatever you do don't buy that Klipsch sub.

Well, the good thing about Best Buy is that you can usually return things easily and quickly.

With a $1K budget, you are looking at 5 identical monitors + Subwoofer. There are so many systems out there. Whatever you want to audition, just make sure they have a 30-Day Return Policy.:D

Here is one idea w/ 30-Day Return Policy from Aperion:

5 of These ($130 x 5):

1 of this ($500):

Exactly what I was going to say.

With the exception of the Klipsch part...

Hello All,

I just purchased a Yamaha 663 and a Bose Acoustimass 10 system. Does anyone have any information on any special settings / tweaks to optimize the two systems to work the best together? While I realize there are better speakers out there and the uy [O]ther ound [E]quipment acronym . I am happy with the Bose and they seem to perform well for me. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

If you're happy with Bose, you should stay with them. It makes no sense to listen to other people if you've already auditioned speakers and you liked what you heard from Bose. You're the one who will be listening to the system and everyone has different tastes. Enjoy what you have and make no apologies for what you enjoy.

Agreed, however he should still be open minded and listen to what people with experience have to say. A few quick searches on all the audio forums will quickly reveal a lot about bose. He may be very happy with Bose right now, but if he returns them and heeds the suggestions here, he may be elated when he hears what he has, and will quickly see that it's head and shoulders above bose for the same, or even less money. I too suggest the SVS SB01 system.

The question is, has he listened to all the other speaker systems?

If Best Buy is convenient, then compare the Bose to everything else there first - Klipsch, Definitive Technology, etc.

I also have a Bose system, which is now in my 6 yr old daughter's room - nice & cute.

I've also had a NHT system (SuperZero + SW2P = $1,300).

Although the NHT system is less expensive than the BOSE, the NHT sounds A LOT better than the BOSE in my opinion.

Sure, if after listening to everything else and the Bose still sounds the best, then get the Bose.

663 great - take back Bose

The Yamaha 663 is great! If you can, take the Bose Acoustimass 10 system back!!!! There are much, much better HTIB in the $1000 range. Audioholics sells some very good ones! Bose systems are overpriced and pretty low sound quality.

Here is much better system for $729.99
EMP ECA 5.1 Speaker System

Agreed, but everyone should be open to other options if they are suggested in a friendly manner. If a customer came into my store and wanted to hear some sound systems and they mentioned they would like to hear Bose I would exhibit that system, and other comparable systems. I figure at least half of the customers (the portion that aren't deaf or just plain bull headed) would prefer one of the other systems. There's no reason to not at least show someone other options.

If you had a store, why would you carry bose?
