Ordered Dali Ikon Series

Ordered Dali Ikon 5 channel setup today, Ikon 6's, Vokal 2 center channel, and Ikon 1's in the rear :D. Dealer called back and said they don't stock the light oak in the US but that there was a container ship leaving Denmark (where Dali is made) that could load up with my speakers :(...great, until he mentioned the 4-5 week wait that entails:eek:! I'm not sure if I can stand waiting that long, although I told him to go ahead with it. Don't get me wrong-this is not his fault and he has offered to let me borrow the Ikon 6's he has in the shop (walnut), so he's being as nice as he can as far as I know...Just felt like venting a little-I can't wait to get these speakers, as I personally fell in love with them throughout the auditioning process. BTW, if this needs to be moved to the Steam Vent or something-feel free. I put it here b/c it's about loudspeakers and was unsure.

Nice speakers... Let the waiting period be as painless as possible :)

Talked to the dealer, he is going to meet me about halfway driving distance wise with the demo model ikon 6's someday by Saturday depending on what night works for everyone. It may not "my" speakers I'm getting, but it does seem good of him to do this and it will be exciting to get some "representatives" until my actual speakers make it in!

Sadly, I'm still waiting on the Dali's to get here. On the upside, the demo speakers I borrowed (Ikon 6's in a different shade) are pretty amazing in the house, even after a month of listening to them. Bass is not what I thought it was at first, but it is still quite decent. Mids shine and the highs are just gorgeous-although some may find them bright I suppose. Sound more detailed but same emphasis as my friends M60's from Axiom.

Still waiting for the whole setup though! :(

demo speakers are better than no speakers. Glad to hear your dealer is taking good care of you. Hopefully your set will be in soon... I know what it's like to wait on new speakers, I have a set of Def Tech BP7001SC towers on the way, and the wait is killing me too, but thankfully I only have to wait till Wednesday to get them.

Waiting for something as EXCITING as awesome speakers always seems like an eternity.:D

I bet you guys are losing sleep just thinking about them.:)

I'm trying not to think too hard about it. I'm going to attemp to just think about enjoying my new (used) BP2X that I just got to hold me over until I can really get excited about the 7001s. But the weekend is coming up fast and I'll be drinking enough so that I might actually forget about the speakers for a little while.

***LOL***

Does that really work or will it just make you pass out and have nightmares about shipping delays? Then you wake up saying "NO! WHY ME?":D

It really works... just go out and shoot some pool and have some beers, then come home drunk and listen to loud music to ease the pain of waiting.

That's sounds really fun.

But I think it's a singles life.

Just forget about it when you are married -- that is if you want to stay married.

And absolutely forget about it when you are married with children!

I'm not having kids... and the girl I'm with is very cool, she doesn't mind my loud music unless she's trying to sleep.

Seems like a lot of people are going this route, including Greg. Plenty of people I work with are in the same mode.

I guess you won't miss it if you never had it to begin with, right?

You sure you don't want 2 little daughters to stand on top of your piano and bang the heck out it, and then touch all your Def Tech speakers and MIT DLP and sit on top of your Subwoofer?

You guys sure about that?:D

Well, I don't own a piano, and the SVS is too tall for a kid to sit on, and I can't imagine all the drama of having kids... especially after seeing how bad it is to have a new puppy, even though he's not been that bad at all.

These are very fine speakers, they contain "trickled down" technology from their top of the line Euphonia range, at a much! lower price point.... Guess something like 90% of the performance of the big guys, at less than 20% the price tag of Euphonia MS4

I have the Ikon 6 myself, with the Vokal 2 center and OnWall surrounds.
Very nice system for a moderate size room. Having the room treated to an extent and a pro run an analyzer for speaker setup helps a lot.

I think the '6' is the optimum point of the Ikons. They have a '7' and even '8' but at that point I would move up the Mentors which would place you even closer to the Helicons and with nicer cabinets.

For now, I am very pleased with performance on music and as part of an HT setup too. Hope someday to audition the Euphonias. :)

Well, I either get to pick them up tonight or tomorrow, depending on when the truck gets in. They can deliver, but they won't have a lift truck for the pallet they shipped on until Tuesday that can be in my area. I'm not waiting that long ;)! So here's to hoping they are on the back of the truck and get unloaded early!

Anxious to hear your impressions. I am running a Velodyne sub. not that impressed with the Dalis for the price point.

You're the first negative comment I have heard about them. To each their own. I compared them to RBH TK series, MC6's, B&W 683's, CM7's, 7xx's, and Axiom M60's. I thought they were much better than the TK's, MC6's, and 683's. I also thought they edged out the CM7's and 7xx's. With the M60's, it was a tradeoff, I get a little less bass extension, but slightly clearer treble. Since I plan on running a sub, I was less worried about the bass. It was a case of always wondering what I was missing when comparing to the M60's if I hadn't gone with the Ikon's.

I feel they give a "live" sound to well recorded music, I feel like they actually put me there.

I did hear some speakers that were better, including the Helicons (very nice!) and RBH's Status Acoustic line as well (also very nice, but not that much better, at least when factoring in price). In the end, it was a value proposition as well as performance. They fit into my sweet spot and I suppose that is all that really matters.

What is it that you don't like about them? My biggest negative is a slight lack of bass...

Is my post #16 Negative?

I was only talking about the sub....which I never purchased.

:)
