Hi everyone,my name is Levi & im only 14 years old but i surely know who my hero is,it is my father but i dont call him that,i call him "pop's" & the story i'll be telling you is why my dad is my hero.

One of the many reasons why my pop's is my hero is his courage,he has overcame many obstacles & came out on top every time,my dad builds scyscraper's which are very tall buildings,a long time ago he was working way up in the air when he fell & broke his back, after the accident he could not walk or move from the waist down, most people would have gave up but he didnt,he started walking again & working out, then before you know it he was on his feet & back to work.

Another reason my dad is my hero is that nothing stops him,he was in a bad explosion & was set on fire,he was burned very badly & needed skin grafts,i was very small when this happened but i can still remember how much pain he was in & seeing him laying in intensive care at the hospital, when we would visit he never let on that he was hurting but we all knew how bad he was hurt.

Another reason my dad is my hero,he has built buildings all over the world & no matter where he is working he always calls us every night & sometimes fly's home on weekends to be with us,i can always call my dad at work when i need to talk to him,we both have nextell 2 way phones.

Another reason why my dad is my hero is his determination for us to have the best of everything,by that i mean because of his hard work we always have a nice house with nice stuff & we never have to struggle just to get by or to make ends meet,he always takes us to nice resturaunts to eat dinner too.

Thanks dad ,for everything you do for us & for everything you taught me,you are my hero.

I could think of a million other reason why my dad is my hero but long stories suck so this story is over.

My wife brought this to my office for me to read, its a copy of one of my son's school reports on who their hero's are,i cried like a baby when i read it.

You've got one smart kid and that proves it ;).

Also, that is a great story. It reminded me of when I wrote my version for my dad when I was a kid. Although he didn't mention the kick*** speakers :D!

It actually brought a tear to my eye when I got to the end. Sounds like a great kid that really appreciates his father and that says quite a bit about the father too.

Not to get all heartfelt here but those kinds of things really do mean a lot. I made my father a trophy out of wood with a golf ball on top that said '#1 Dad'. Who knows how old I was then...but I'm 41 now and he still has it.

Thanks, your right about it meaning alot,i wouldnt trade that peice of paper for anything.

My wife is a saver of everything our kids have ever made,we've got box'es of stuff made out of popsicle sticks & glue, this one isnt going in a box though, were going to have a frame made for it & put it up on the wall.

Hi sheep,he's in 8th grade but he's supposed to be in 9th,we held our kids back a year in school when they were in 1st grade & kindergarden, the school we started them off in sucked & kept them playing with finger paints & silly putty so my wife home schooled them for another year till they improved to her standards, then we switched schools,my wife used to be a school teacher so they have it hard as far as what she expects them to learn.

As for the shameless plug my wife said pretty much the same thing,we were joking about it & she said,"this one should be good for a new car for him next year" then winked;)

Thanks Mike,it's easy to see that you'll have a great relationship with your son when he gets older,we all know how proud you are to be a parent & rightly so.

Hey Strat, your right about kids getting under your skin, for me our kids are what makes me happy,we have some real slimeballs in our family who neglect their kids for their own selfish reasons like "they need to worry about their own happiness first" or are "too busy" to spend time with their kids & the kids are starting to show it in their daily lives.

Our kids are on the football & wresteling teams while their kids are in juvenile homes & drug rehab,we try to help them be better parents but their too busy at the casino's,i cant imagine anybody being too busy for their kid.

Hanging around with your kids is the best.

Thanks,i never really thought about what my kids thought about me,i guess i took it as a given but that letter sinches it for me,my wife talks to all our kids teachers & she was told that out of the whole class my son was the only kid who named his father as his hero, most others used sports icons as their hero's.

I swelled up like a peacock when she told me that,"with chest all puffed out":D

Thanks Dave, your right,i cant ask for anything more,it's got me so choked up that i took the day off work to reflect on some crap.

Its funny how you know what you'll remember for the rest of your life,i'll never forget how a Big Mac tasted when i 1st got out of prison & the memory of this letter will be right up there with all the other stuff i'll never forget.

That is one awesome letter HH. Being raised with no dad around me, makes me jealous...nahh..j/k. I am happy with my mom. He is one lucky boy and you are one kick a!# dad. Nevertheless, it makes me wanting to be a father (I got no kids yet)..You are the pride of the fathers here HH.

Wow. That's pretty damn cool. I'm a guy that doesn't like kids or plan on ever having any, and that still touched me. Good job raising your kid.

You and your wife deserve a lot of credit for raising such a good son.
To have a child at that age, understand and appreciate all the hard work you've done, is very rare.
Congratulations to you and Mrs. Highfi.

Great story.
Sometimes it's easy to forget how much of an impact we have on our kids. Good or bad.
My son is almost 14, I've found we don't do as much together as we used to.
I'll have to change that.

Thanks.
