The Green Fairy is EVIL

Hell, I don't even remember Mazer leaving. I passed out in the bedroom. The wife slept in the other bedroom to get away from me. The wife said she went outside about 2AM and said we were booming the whole neighborhood. Screw 'em if they can't take a joke. I was living here first.

Again, I've come to the conclusion that the Green Fairy is an evil, nasty, heartless b!tch.
I had the WEIRDEST freakin' dreams that night.......and the next day.

BTW- not only did we finish off a small 0.75L bottle of Crown, a whole bottle of vodka and 3/4 of the absinthe, I opened the 1.75L of Crown that night and Steve killed half of that.

(I'm too old for this crap)

My wife insisted that I came home around 3am or 4am. I thought I left your house at 1am. I guess not.

And I wanted to go home at halftime.

:confused:You blame the absinthe.

Most of the people I have given samples to also blame that one shot of absinthe for the terrible hangover, not the copious amounts of other booze consumed the same evening.

This is why it got banned in the first place.

Sure you did! I'm envisioning major keeping you there at gunpoint. Making you finish off all his liquor til 3am (or at least til majorloser passes out). And playing with his subs so half the county feels it. ...A likely story. :p

I'm checking all the newspapers around Tampa/ Ft. Myers area even down to Dade, I'm sure these two Thelma and Luises were up to no good, hopefully it won't involve some hapless zoo animal and cars. Loserwife should just shackle those two together when they visit the fairie, or better yet when Mazer rings the doorbell she should be waiting at a strategic spot ready to pounce.

Ah! the Czech stuff, eh? I've not had the, erm... privilege to sample any of that stuff. Have heard horrible things of it. If you want a real fairy experience, stay away from that area.

I would suggest the (I think it's) Serpis. It's a red absinthe. Doesn't taste horrible, is cheap (considering), and has a rather high Thujone content. Water it properly, no real sugar needed. Drink a few glasses of it, and no other alcohol. The alcohol can overpower the thujone, and the point of being absinthe minded is not drunkeness.

Don't chug it, either. Drink it, sip it, enjoy it. Let the stuff do its work. Remember, this is not just alcohol. You don't just chug a bunch and then go party. Also, don't expect hallucinations and an acid trip. I referred to it as being absinthe minded because it is more a mood setter. Brings about good conversation.

oh, and some good (perhaps dark) music helps set the stage.

hope this helps, and please stop treating the fairy as a dirty two bit hooker. She'll only slap you around for that. Give her some respect, and she can show you a fine time.

(and if you want some suggestions of nicer bottles, I can give some of those, too. But they tend to run a bit more money.)

Should we check the police reports for a man, between the hours of 1am-4am, running stark naked down the middle of the street yelling, "the green fairies are after me!"

?

Hey, S-man. G-man says his "Location: A hop, skip, & jump from Stratman" I'd say, especially if a fairie of any color is involved, carefully choose who is hopping and skipping to your place. :D :p

Naw, J/K G-man. Also knowing Loserwife, I'd say Mazer and ML were lucky she didn't do something like put jalapeno stuffed olives up their nostrils when they went into the ozone, lol! (Good idea, eh, LW? ;))

Nostrils!? You're being nice RJ, I'd say a couple of Habaneros and not in the nostrils either, I'll leave the rest to your imagination, Loserwife won't be worrying about Green Fairies for a while!:D

I must confess now I'm a bit riled and I'm getting an inkling to try the damned green slut of a fairie. I've tried Pastis before (in Europe a couple of brands do contain wormwood) to me it tastes just like sambuca. I'm going to speak to my buddy at Southern Wine see if they're bringing in the stuff. I had sambuca last night at a friends, it turns opalescent like absinthe when the ice melts, and it sports that fine anisette flavor. Thanks Major, Mazer, hope I don't go through your little "upheaval." Maybe I'll have the wife lock the doors and hide the keys.

the cloudiness is called the louche', and is because the oils from the herbs are more soluble in the alcohol than water. When you raise the water content the herbs precipitate out. (sorry, I'm also a chemist)

also, you can always go to a bar and get a Pernod and water. It's kinda like absinthe, but without the wormwood.

That's kinda how I had my first absinthe. We would buy a bottle of Pernod, and add to the bottle a few ounces of wormwood oil from a herbal products shop. It became quite bitter, but good. Earthy, I guess. We still do that on occasion, as it seems to have more depth of flavor to it and a more natural flavor to it than many of the absinthes we've ordered.

right now in my cabinet I am working on this set:
http://www.spiritscorner.com/scriptsing/buscar.asp?K=Detalle&IdProducto=11188

both are good, but lack depth, in my opinion.
