I wish there would be, but perhaps that may be beyond the scope of this site.

Good idea in theory but in reality car audio forums generally are not friendly places, most forums ive been to are taken over by snot nosed ,filthy mouthed kids,im sure it could work but it would require constany heavy moderation.

While a nubee here in the HT end, I have been a member of many car audio forums for years and like all types of forums there are good and bad.
CCA
Elite
DIYMA
They all have many very knowledgeable people on their message boards but they all tailor to a specific group so depending on the type of person you are
and the type of sound you want will depend on the forum you like best. There are forums that cater to the SPL crowd and ones that only talk SQ. I personally like the DIYMA forum the best as its a very good mix of down to earth guys that believe you don't need to spend the most to get the best sound, loud :D. IMO there probably wont be a big enough draw for it here, just as there wasn't enough HT info in the car audio forums for me? Most people only have enough time/money for one passion and for those that can they would probably be better served by just joining the specific forum. Just my $.02

I had a car audio section on Audioholics when I started this site 9 years ago. I gave it up a year or two later since I was unable to keep up both home and car with only a handful of people writing for me at the time.

I later decided car audio really wasn't our crowd or focus and haven't looked back since. I'd rather focus us on home theater and cool gadets for now.

Adding a Car audio section is just asking for new stupid members. If you don't believe me, look at car audio forums.

I hate to generalize like this but I know a couple Car Audio forums I've browsed while researching some equipment are just insane and the scamming going on in the classifieds are freaking nightmares.

In my eyes the reasons you guys are giving for not having a car audio section are the exact reasons why you should! I have really grown to love and respect this site as it has supplied me with all of the helpful information necessary to get my home entertainment equiptment picked out. I just thought I saw great potential for a classy, upscale, perhaps even sophisticated car audio forum...

No, no way! It can't be done! It's ludicrous!<- And that word would no longer be used for it's proper meaning, let alone the millions of others that were bastardized by the Rap side of the music industry. Ebonics has no place on this forum!

Just because there isn't a dedicated forum doesn't mean that there aren't knowledgeable and experienced car audio people on this site. I recently asked for car audio help in the Steam Vent and based on that advice, put some JL Audio speakers in my car and couldn't be happier.

I don't feel the need for a dedicated Car Audio forum. I feel that if members have questions, simply ask in the Steam Vent like Dave did. There are enough seasoned Car Audio Vets on the boards to help out. If you want a fairly educational place to go for strictly Car Audio I would recommend the Carsound forums. They are moderated by some really knowlegdable guys in the car audio field. I still drop in there from time to time.

What's your s/n there?

As for others, well, some of the responses are correct: it's filled with a bunch of teenagers who know nothing about SQ, and hardly know any more than buying a pre-fab box and putting 1000w rms on a sub... that's it.

But, I'd be glad to help as much as I can. I'm still learning things everyday, but it's been my passion for the past couple years. If it weren't for car audio, I'd be in some pain trying to learn home audio. In fact, I feel very prepared for home audio because I understand how important an install is (speaker placement, IB setups, enclosures, speaker positioning, phase, etc).

So, if you really want to learn head over to DIYmobileaudio.com. The knowledge there is endless and the guys there are great. I've had guys send me free gear and another actually made me some cables so I could do some t/a analysis via my laptop RTA setup. :D

I did the Sr SQ thing on all the forums, mainly so I can remember what to sign in as lol
I got tired of people not being able to read and thus confusing "bikinPunk" for "bikinIpunk". ;)

So, this time around I went with my real name.

I'll keep an eye out for you there. Do you post regularly?

I will admit I thought there was a "I" in it also, I thought I recognized your avatar
I try not to make a fool of myself too often, so I only post when it's completely necessary :D Mainly I just lurk and read, pretty much anything a person could want to know has already been discussed so a quick search usually reveals days of reading:eek: Plus I like the fact that many of the guys aren't afraid to think outside the RETAIL BOX, I would have never dreamed of using 8ohm home audio speakers in a automobile until reading about it at DIYMA. They also have the fastest moving classified section I have ever seen.

x2. I've managed to move stuff quickly there and also pick up some deals.

There's a Dyn/Rainbow/Pioneer/etc dealer there who always gives me excellent deals.

I actually asked him about Dyn home audio, but once he gave me some quotes (and these were considerably cheaper than retail) I still was hundreds of $$$ off my budget, lol.
