The New KITT is a Ford?

having been a former T/A owner, that really pisses me off. There has been a knightrider edition every gen for the birds since this movie came out. Now its a mustang....WTF Just the 121,213,234,142nd different edition of the new mustang running around. Should have been a vette atleast. Think new C6 Z06 with the lightbar in the hoodscoop.... That would have been sweet.

I'm not surprised. Ford has an office in California whose sole function is to place products in movies. Ford is pursuing that strategy more aggressively than what has been done in the past.

Might as well be a Yugo or an AMC Pacer. They should've used the new Camaro, though its vaporware now.

The new Camaro is heavily identified with the Transformers movie. But even those I don't think were Camaros. I think they were new GTO's heavily modified to look like the new Camaro.

Yeah I guess you're right, but GM certainly dropped the ball on this one. I thought that GM lent the production team their only prototype Camaro, I saw an interview with the kid who starred and I recall him saying how careful they had to be with the car.

I think you are right. One hero car for close-ups and some mock-ups for the driving scenes. Weighing all the factors, it will be tough for me to choose between the new Camaro and a 'Vette. My wife really wants the Camaro. Truth be told, I'm more of a Camaro guy than a 'Vette guy. I mean, my only magazine subscription is Car Craft, not Car and Driver.

Dave my experience with both is dubious to say the least, my dad gave me as a graduation present a 1980 Z-28 loaded to the gills, at 20,000 miles the harmonic damper started to rub on the timing gear cover, the carb started to go south, the tranny was making strange sounds, so I traded it in for a 1981 Corvette, that was the year when GM in it's infinite wisdom unleashed on the public the three Cs from hell, Computer, Command, Control, I had to get rid of the Vette with 9000 miles on the ticker, it would turn itself off for no reason, the roof leaked, electrical gremlins all over, so I traded it for an 82 Datsun 280ZX, one of the best cars I've ever owned, till my dad borrowed it and neatly wrapped it around a light post, luckily no one was hurt, ZXs like 911s had semi-trailing rear arm suspension so if you went into a curve fast and stepped hard on the brakes the rear would break and you would spin, this is a great feature if you know how to use it.

I LOVE the new Mustang, but my last 3 cars have been Mustangs, so I'm not exactly impartial.

But I agree that it doesn't really follow with the spirit of the show.

When I made the original post, that was EXACTLY what I was thinking!! They could have converted this Camaro into a KITT that was 1000 times better!!

Better yet.....how about a Trans Am??

it's a movie that's basically a long ad for Ford. great.

i like how the mustang looks, but not as KITT

the old KITT was futuristic "looking" for it's time.

I totally agree with the Vette idea.

The Mustang stinks. It looks like some kid got a hold of it and "riced out" the rear end.

Maybe they should be using the Ferrari FXX for a more futuristic look..

Please tell me that is NOT going to be the new Trans Am?

Using a Shelby Mustang is stupid. And where is the trademark red light? I'm, waiting for them to have a 3D CGI face inside the dash for the car to use when talking. That would be the bomb!*

*Extreme sarcasm

This 2-hour episode will crash and burn and the series will NEVER happen. Period. It is as predictable as Lindsey Lohan's next drinking binge.

That IS a hood scoop :) I don't mind the look of the new stang and that one even looks ok except for the retarded double decker wing.
