Upgrading Speakers from PSB to Paradigm - Any Thoughts?

Yah same problem as Greg's got. Unless we're registered users I don't believe we will be seeing them. It'd be great if you could use photobucket or something, I'd love to see your whole setup.

I'd love to pick up a 2 channel amp, but I'm cash strapped now since I bought all of what I did. Oh well, another couple years and maybe.

got the speakers all set up and couldnt be happier! check out pics here if interested - (its another forum, not sure how to post pics in this thread?) just scroll down the page and you cant miss them - http://www.thedirtynation.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=11432&posts=10&start=1

thanks again to everyone for all the input!

and yeah, Warpdrv, a 2 channel amp is next on the list! not in a huge rush for that yet though, these babies really pound the small room i'm in!
Looking at your equipment, you might want to spring for a 3 channel amp, and power up that cc-690 as well... the CC is as you know, is pretty much the same as a studio 100 laying on its side... that thing can handle the power nicely.. 200x3 like greg did... Emotiva is a great avenue for that...

I say don't do it, but I much prefer PSB and would always choose the equivalent PSB over any Paradim.

I have a dealer here in my town that sells PSB, but only the lower lines, and he will not get any of the higher lines in to listen to.... So I could not compare them to the Paradigm speakers..

I would love to listen to PSB's Platinum series, Image series, and now the new Syncrony line... I prefer the look of the Paradigm speakers, but its not all about the looks all the time.

You need to chill out.

I meant it sincerely when I said "enjoy your paradigms" because you, like many other people, like them. I was merely commenting on my preference because many of us here find it interesting how everyone can have different taste in speakers. I thought it interesting that someone would switch from PSB to Paradigm because it's not a direction I would have personally gone.

Chill dude

What is with you? Emorphien just stated that he prefers PSB. By the way PSB do make nice speakers that rival Paradigm. It is great you like your 100's and nobody said they were bad. If you like them, great, personally I like Mirage am I a POS also?

Yes you are a POS:D

I wanted to audition PSBs but could never find any and dealing directly with the company got me nowhere...oh well...

Awesome set-up. That center cracks me up; Warp calls my little 590 a baby center;)
that center channel is epic

Paradigm really knows how to design an imposing looking speaker.

Definitely something I noticed with PSB, they don't seem to have as much dealer availability as Paradigm. Paradigm is everywhere, which speaks to its popularity.

Stealth,

NICE RIG!!! :D

Hey, I have some PSB B25 bookshelves (I know that's not exactly what you had), but could you describe which and any improvements/changes that you like with the new stuff?

I've never heard Paradigm. There is a local dealer, but I didn't want to go there because they are one of those CI stores that try to make money on installs, etc, but in hindsight that was a poor reason not to go listen. Anyways, although there have been some differing opinions stated here, hoever, some people seemed to think that if you love PSB you'll love Paradigm, and that if you don't like one, you probably won't like the other. Maybe there is some Canadian "sound"...?

Cheers!

I think Paradigm sounds brighter than PSB generally, there are other characteristics of paradigm that I don't care for, but most of the PSBs I've listened to don't sound like the equivalent Paradigm.

Those studios do look nice:D. I think the title of your post was misleading because the Digms are not an upgrade over Psbs;). If your going to compare two different brands then compare apples to apples:).

yes the 100s are great!

I have:
Studio 100s,
Studio CC690
4 Studio ADP-590
Anthem A5
Denon 4308
SVS PB13-Ultra

I am very pleased with the studios (especially after learning how to setup my 4308 properly.. lol.. night and day.. all I can say is RTFM) :)

next on my list is drywall :) lol..

Why is it that Babel pops in here once a month, says something and then is gone for another month?????????

I feel the same way. I also think that PSB makes the better speakers towards the budget end of the spectrum. I would take Mordaunt-Short or Monitor Audio over both of them :D
