Anyone read/seen reviews? How do they stack up? With the Yank dollar getting it's *** kicked, I'm sensing a lot of Canucks heading south to purchase panels. thoughts?

I know of at least one Audioholic who owns a KURO display, so he may pipe up with some details. The Audioholics staff also checked out these displays at CEDIA and you can get their truncated report on the video they made.

In a word, they are BLACK.

In two words, they are BLACK and EXPENSIVE. :)

But if you want arguably the best looking plasma on the market and have some serious coin at your disposal, then by all means....make us envy you!

According to Pioneer all their panels will be approx 25% less in 2008.

It would be a sweet dream though...sigh, lots of $$$$. The owner of the shop I work at is trying to offer me his last FHD1 panel cheap...not sure HOW cheap, but cheap...just to get it off the wall to make room for the new Elite 50" 1080. Problem is, it obviously has some good hours on it...kinda want new out of the box!

Agreed. I want new too, especially with plasma. I want to get one new and also calibrate it so as too avoid pixels running too hot/burn in etc.

What is the best/correct way to calibrate the aforementioned TV? Plus, does a new Elite panel require such tweeking right out of the box?

Sencore Color Pro (or Pro Color) is a great calibration tool, but it costs several grand to buy. It would be cheaper to pay a pro to come out to your place and calibrate the tv for much less. I would say many tvs do fairly well out of the box, but can always look much improved, and use less energy too, when calibrated properly.

I think it's even more an issue with plasmas just given the pixel burn in issues than can occur. Although my understanding with Pioneer is that they have taken some pains to reduce this issue.

Fellow Audioholic, Tom Andry, did a recent review of a Pioneer plasma, and used the Sencore to calibrate..and if you read the review, you'll it was a good thing he did so!
