Who said anything about 2008? The receivers are supposed to be out sometime in July 2007.

4 HDMI inputs!!! This is shockingly good news. (And everybody laughed at me because I've been 'holding out' ith my S-video only Pioneer AVR). Plus Audyssey EQ for only $1600!

Now I just need a combo HD-DVD/Blu*Ray/Upconverting DVD player. And a 1080p TV

The Sherwood Newcastle R-972, due for August, has 6 HDMI inputs, HDMI 1.3, a very advanced bass management system, and other very nice features. It will open at $1500. The model below that, the R-872, has 4 HDMI inputs and similar features to the R-972, and it will be about $1000. Both units decode lossless, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS HD master audio.

I don't have personal experience with Sherwood Newcastle, but they do receive favorable reviews and are considered to be a good value purchase in most cases. Sherwood has been manufacturing receivers for other companies for years, but none are disclosed for obvious reasons.
