LOL, I bet they are loud. I don't know about quality sound (since I can't listen to them;)). I bet you can simulate the movie theater sound pretty well with those.:D

A friend of a friend was an engineer at Bose for a few years and he gave my buddy some of their older stuff. I do have to say they don't sound terrible, but they are also 30 years old, before they came up with the cubes. The CUBES are the number one issue with Bose, not all of their stuff.

Now, post a pic comparing those to a brand new accoustimass "module". That's why I hate Bose, they put all their money nowadays into marketing and not R&D. I'm a pilot and it's the same way with Bose Aviation Headsets, all looks, no quality these days. You can get better performing headsets for less than half the price.

I am not shocked to hear this, but I do remember having a dispute about this before. Someone (not sure who, cannot recall at this point) was arguing that Bose still had some admirable stuff. They brought up Bose headsets for pilots and military use and it was said that was quality gear. Now we hear it from the mouth of the horse, or pilot, Bose sucks in all aspects in this day and age.:D

However, I don't dispute that Bose has always been bad. They have done some very great things in the past, but they have yet to do anything revolutionary in the past few years aside from marketing schemes and tactics.

...and all this time I was under the impression that obscbyclouds was a Pink Floyd reference. :)
It is a Floyd ref, however, I also happen to be a pilot. Fitting huh? :)

And yes, Bose Aviation gear is just as crappy these days as their HT gear. Bose did make some quality stuff years ago.

I dont care too much for bose, not from the gear they have but the propaganda they flood the market with making people believe they are getting the best,a big name speaker manufacturer also uses the same tactics.

Bose did have some admirable mid to high end gear back in the day but their home audio has become a joke,as for their pro gear bose makes some very nice sounding pro line arays, very expensive for what they are & better can be had for less money spent but they are still good sounding speakers.

That amp is a monster :) . Kinda beats the hell out of the Recievers ( no Balls ) made these days.
Uhoh, your treading on thin ice mister:eek:

Dont ya know that any well made reciever will perform just as good as any real balsy power amp, studies show that, really they do:rolleyes:

You guys.

I don't think anyone ever said that receiver amplifiers would perform as well as power amps. Given the use of the receiver or amp and the load the receiver or amp has on it can make a real world difference. Amplifiers are intended to produce an uncolored signal within its proper operating limitations. Someone with efficient well rounded speakers and no lust for higher spls would not notice a difference between the receiver or the amp, given they don't have bias.:D

I used to use Bose 802's to DJ in the 80's and they would rock gym sized room no problem with a big Bryston or Yamaha power amp.

What are the specs? Do you even know? Did Bose keep the specs a secret from you? Do they even go below 40hz?

its funny you say that i email bose and they dont really have any specs i have about a 1000w going to each one and the bins take it
the spl on a 32hz tone is nuts can max out a radioshack spl meter
each bin has 2 12s and with2 bins they/room seem to peak at about 32hz they go down to the mid20s
the bass from 30-70hz is very loud and clean

i will post some more pics to show how big the bins really are
i wish i had a new acoustimass to put beside them just to show how big they are
