Hello.. I am new here. I have a question before I purchase the Denon 987 reciever... when is a new Denon coming out to replace this one? Is it worth the wait to hold off on the new unit? Thanks.. Zach

There's always new units coming out to replace the existing ones.

Buy features you need, not the latest/greatest.

Unless there's some feature you absotively, posilutely need on the new, "improved" one, then ypu gain nothing by waiting. Unless, of course, you're a cheap SOB like me and gladly buy last year's models at a discount price. Hey, if it's got all the goodies I need, I don't care if it's a leftover.

Remember, no matter if you wait for the "newest" model, in a few months it'll be last year's model anyway. That's the great mandella of this hobby.

I think this is a new model. If it has the features you want, I wouldn't wait for a new one.

Thank you :) What are some some good speakers that would compliment this reciever? I am THINKING of the Boston VR2's Boston VRC (center) and their rear boookshelf speakers for surround. Subwoofer wise I am thinking of a Velodyne 12". If someone has some other ideas.. pelase feel free to let me know.. I'm not stone set on speakers yet... so let me know.. thanks again.. Zach

Your receiver will be old and obsolete by next year so what does it matter? J/K

My Denon 4806 I purchased last year is already a discontinued. :D
