Such a comfort that a relative handful of knuckledragging men (aka republicans) want to restrict women's reproductive rights. Of course so many other times their unwanted sperm would be rejected and that's just not right. Who is more qualified than a republican male, mostly already sexually frustrated, to restrict such? Thank goodness for common sense! Can't wait until they go after the rest of those "problems" like long hair on men, earrings, same sex marriages, etc. Such a qualified group to follow back to the stone ages!

You and me disagree sometimes and our politics differ but on this issue we are 100% in agreement. I think this is really stupid. This law has been in effect for over 50 years now right? What's it really hurt in the long run? Nothing really so why reverse it and cause more polarization among political lines and also distraction with voters when we really need to be focusing on a lot of other more important issues. It's just stupid

Also conservatives that are Christian based in there value system annoy the fu#$ out of me. I thought big government is supposed to stay out of it right? Leave it up to the individual and the local level. UNLESS it falls into your moral compass then you'll enforce it thats the same thing the right accuses the left of doing all the time. There was supposed to be separation of church and state right? For a reason.

Although I will say it's too soon to say one way or the other we are months away from a verdict and they are or were still deliberating it was at a 5 for to 4 against at that time.

Whoever leaked that document is fu#$in stupid because it may have the opposite effect of what they intended. The court may dig in there heels and refuse to be intimidated I've known a lot of judges and doctors and they don't like being told what to do very well.

Also the protestors doxxing and protesting at there homes is pathetic the White Houses response to that has been pathetic as well.

But all in all I think your right Lovin this is a dumb decision if they overturn Roe vs Wade

Well that's the beauty of the country's setup (altho we seem to be losing it)....our political parties don't particularly represent us across the board....I know we've been at loggerheads but just find the conservative side of the bench just to be....knuckledraggers. I do wonder the who and why of the leak, as it has effects either way. I just would like to abort those justices going back on this point because of their personal politics.

Oh there is so much more to come here. They are next going to restrict or outright ban birth control. They are already talking about punishing women who travel to states where it is legal for the purpose of. Gay marriage and interracial marriage are the docket. This is what "take back our country" and "make America great again" truly meant. Welcome to the American Taliban.
Oh and all along this was lip service "states rights" but you can bet when they get the house/the senate and presidency they will try to ban these things nationwide.

I tend to think you're overstating it but WTFK either. I like the murican taliban comment, does have some definite similarities. Just hoping we come to our senses rather than fall into the pit of further hate.

Marco Rubio is already talking about punishing women who travel to states for that purpose.
Mississippi gov on banning birth control.

This is just the beginning.

to the best of my knowledge 'Roe v Wade' is not a law, rather a precedent. Regardless, last I looked there was a rather centrist Democrat that voted with the Repubs yesterday

I usually avoid politics on my audio forums but this is a big one. I'm disgusted every time the theistic right tries to, and in some cases succeeds in taking rights away for no good reason. I guess it's a good thing now to force a woman to carry to term whether she wants to or not and grant special rights to fetuses that don't apply anywhere else.

Not to mention, a government that can take away a woman's rights to bodily autonomy and force her to carry to full term against her will, is also a government that can decide to force an abortion...

While never ever holding the "the father" up account for anything. If they restrict birth control then the same should go for Viagra. The horror that's about to be unleashed upon the women of these states is gonna be horrid.

While some may feel that protesting at justices' homes is wrong, nobody is shooting at them, bombing or burning their homes down.
This is just the latest of a long string of crimes perpetrated against PP clinics.

People who claim to protest at judges' homes is wrong, forget how protesting could be done in other developed 1st world countries, France for example:

I would contrast these peaceful protests in front of justices homes to those that went on say in Michigan at the governors house where ARMED protesters threatened her family and there was an actual plot to kidnap her and kill her. Also the Mother Truckers who went to Oakland and drove their trucks into a residential neighborhood over an assembly woman's vote on an abortion bill. It was great when they got pelted with eggs.

Canada has no laws regulating abortion (the last was struck down as unconstitutional in 1988) and the procedure is publicly funded, yet abortion rates are much lower than in the US.
Abortion Law and Policy: Comparisons Between the U.S. and Canada (arcc-cdac.ca)

Since the leak, Canadian politicians have come out to confirm that American women can access abortion services here. Of course, it wouldn't be free for them, as they wouldn't be covered by medicare here.

Although some conservative politicians rage against abortion here, Conservative Party leadership are afraid to raise the issue in parliament as it is most assuredly a vote-loser, since 80% of Canadians support a woman's right to choose.

You hit on the fundamental disconnect with those Conservative arguments.

For most issues, conservatives say keep government out of any issue involving personal freedoms. This applies to speech, religion, gun ownership, taxes, business regulations, etc. But with abortion and birth control, they want the government to control what individuals can choose. I don't understand this.

I also fail to understand how one state can enforce it's laws beyond the state line. That will never stand up to court challenge.

My view on this is pretty black and white. You don't like the idea of an abortion, don't f'ing get one. But your feelings on it shouldn't impact anyone else's access to the procedure.
