Ukraine – Russia … not more of the last thread

Seriously, I have no life.
You guys bring up some great points about why Russia will be a long term vexing problem for the West. Between their nuclear force and technological level our options are limited for direct confrontation. As "rough" as their tech is in comparison to the West, they also still have a very viable space program at we are partially dependent on.

After Putin is buried, we have to figure out how pull them away from China and plug them into the Western system.
And I would bet that China is thinking along the same lines WRT keeping Russia as some form of Communist state. If they waltz in and take over, it's gonna be bad.

Here's the letter from 9-old boy to her mom who died in Borodianka.

"Mom!

This letter is the gift for you on International Women’s Day. If you think that you raised me for nothing, you're wrong! Thank you for the best 9 years of my life! Thanks a lot for my childhood!

You're the best mom in the whole world. I'll never forget you. I wish you'll get in Heaven and be happy there. I'll do my best to be a good person and get in Heaven too. See you in Heaven!

Tolia xx".

"NATO officials told CNN that discussions about Sweden and Finland joining the bloc have gotten extremely serious since Russia's invasion. US senior State Department officials said the matter came up at this week's NATO foreign ministerial, which was attended by the foreign ministers from Stockholm and Helsinki."

Someone should send that to Putin and if he doesn't react, he should be eliminated for not having a bit of compassion.

This lady is Liudmyla from Borodianka. Ukrainian rescuers brought her a chair, because she has been standing there for three days waiting. She is waiting for her sister and nephew to be taken out from under the rubble. They are the only family she has. The building was destroyed on March 1. :(:(:(:(

This analysis provides a thorough examination of the bioweapons lab BS being spouted by the conspiracy-minded. https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/ukraine-russia-bioweapons-theory-1.6412029
Interesting, read this article too. While focusing on "conspiracy" it does not seem to focus on the complete failure of those responsible for the biolabs and the dangers to the local population of these labs in war time.

It's certainly inaccurate to call them "bioweapon labs" but it's not a to call them "biolabs". That's a fact and it played out the US Senate last month. It's now a political football being used to score political points instead of focusing on the real issue.

Rubio: "Does Ukraine have chemical or biological weapons?"
Nuland: "Ukraine has biological research facilities," Nuland said, stressing the word "research." What's more, she said, the U.S. government was "quite concerned Russian forces may be seeking to gain control of [them]."

So Nuland says bad things may happen if the Russians get their hands on them. Why? Probably because the contents in the "test tubes" being researched there were not being used to make Ukrainian wheat grow stronger. They were dangerous materials. Why were the contents of those biolabs not completely destroyed or moved before the Russian invasion? Total failure of protocol. Who's responsible? What will we learn from this? If the Russians get their hands on these labs are we going to hope the behaviour and humanity of Russians to do the right thing? Some journalist, somewhere should be asking these questions. Maybe Mr. Ling will do a followup article

On another note, I don't have an outdoor system, but after seeing this, am thinking about it. Should send a few over to the Ukrainian army to "repurpose" them into some kind of IED against the Russians.

Well, the article states:
"That program began in the 1990s, after the fall of the Soviet Union, which maintained an expansive bioweapons program. Two U.S. senators, Sam Nunn and Richard Lugar, began worrying about a network of those laboratories that were now the responsibility of newly independent governments with little expertise in biosafety."

So, what the original purpose of the labs was, isn't exactly being kept secret.

Perhaps reading something between the lines that I don't see.

"In its earliest form, the program sent American experts into labs throughout Europe to help local scientists identify dangerous pathogens, and either destroy or better secure them. New labs were built, security protocols were established and staff were trained.

Over time, as the bulk of the bioweapons program was dismantled — "we got rid of what we could co-operatively get rid of," Moore said — the program turned its attention to figuring out how to better monitor and prepare for infectious disease outbreaks.

That included helping those former Soviet states and satellites safely store viruses and bacteria collected from nature."

So, it looks to me that there is no nefarious reason for the labs not being completely dismantled. Up until the Russians actually invaded, it seemed that nobody* believed they would, so why would they dismantle the labs?

The purpose of the article was to expose the nonsense surrounding supposed US - funded Ukrainian bioweapons labs, which I think it thoroughly does. It explains how they were started up in the first place and why they currently exist. I'm not sure what a followup article would be based on.

*It seemed that only Biden was insisting that the Russians were planning to invade, for which he was called a warmonger.

If the Biden administration was insistent the Russians were invading, and Nuland, a member of his administration via the State Department, stated that it was a concern for the Russians to get their hands on the contents in the biolabs, than it stands to reason to ask why they were not cleared of potentially harmful contents or dismantled pre Russian invasion.

Why did this happen and who is at fault so this is not repeated? That's the followup article. Was it the Ukrainians themselves, the US, who? Ukrainians have enough on their hands already not have to deal with a biolab leak that could have been preventable.

Hopefully, Musk can do something about this kind of crap on Twitter.

FB and Twitter have done a lot of damage in the world and they need to be held accountable.
Musk is halfway down the crazy hole himself, so it isn't likely that he will help anything. He will make it worse, if anything.

It is clear to me that:

Russia = State Terrorism
Russian Military is a criminal enterprise.
Russian culture has not evolved over the past 1000 years.
Russian military and political doctrine is to subjugate all of Europe.

Wars end with unconditional surrender.

Ukraine will continue fighting until all Russian military assets are removed from every inch of Ukrainian soil. They can never enjoy freedom, human rights and sovereignty with Russian military bases on their territory.

NATO very much needs Ukraine as a full member.
EU needs the resources of Ukraine to end reliance on Russia.

I don't know how much road traffic there is between Russia/Belarus and EU, but this is a further isolation of Russia from EU's side.

E.U. bans Russian- and Belarusian-registered cars from entering

>>>
The European Union has barred vehicles that are registered in Russia or Moscow-aligned Belarus from crossing its borders, according to Russia’s Federal Customs Service.

The ban includes passenger vehicles and freight trucks, the agency said, but excludes vehicles transporting medicine, food and agricultural products, medical supplies and fertilizers. Transit for humanitarian purposes was also excluded, it said.

The move means even further isolation for Russia, with many commercial flights there halted, sanctions debilitating its economy and a slew of companies pulling out of the country.

The customs agency said transit to the Kaliningrad region — a detached slice of Russia on the Baltic Sea sandwiched between E.U. member states Lithuania and Poland — is still allowed for Russian-registered vehicles only.
