Seriously, I have no life.
Putin denies having bombarded Kyiv and warned that the situation will worsen, but it’s the fault of Ukraine.

My bad. I should have realized that the Ukrainians fired on themselves and blame Russia for it. Boy, I almost fell for that trick. ;)

My great grandfather was born in the Galician Administrative zone way back when. Perhaps Austria and Hungary should get in there and reclaim a good part of Ukraine.
How about Poland? Not much left for Russia.

Russia have just shelled a nuclear reactor in Zaporizhzhia Ukraine. The act looks to be deliberate. One of the six reactors caught fire. The Ukrainians got the fire extinguished, and radiation levels are now said to be normal.

Boris Johnson now says the Russians are a threat to all Europe.

In my view we need to get this shut down. We need to send everything we have got over there, and go in, and get this illegal invasion shut down, or we are all going to regret it.

You willing to risk nuclear war? Does Boris actually have any balls? He seems such a wanker....altho not as big a wanker as drumphy was for that matter.

This was always hard to watch. But this is getting harder.

Those cities are just getting decimated. There resistance is amazing but it's starting to come at a huge cost. To civilians to there infrastructure. I mean Russia isn't going to rebuild Ukraine I don't even know if Putin can afford to.

I feel like the Ukraines are kindoff holding out just hoping Nato is going to step in but that's looking like that's not happening. Especially at this hour. The Ukraines are going to hold the Russians off for awhile but Russia is slowly starting to just tighten the vise And eventually there going to grind Ukraines civilians into dust. As well as there military.

It might be wise at some point to give up the cities or falsely come to terms and just go into guerrilla fighting. There's no one way Putin can hold Ukraine and he can't afford to have it turn into an Afghanistan situation. It will spread and weaken him out in the long run

It's gone to deep to shut it down now. Plus we don't have the forces amassed to go in full on the logistics are a factor. By the time you get them over there the Russians will have plenty of time to react.

And as Lovin said you have to deal with nuclear war. Plus if WW3 starts will China align themselves with Russia that's a huge wild card right there. I know Putin knows he can't take on the US and Nato not all at once its why he's always posturing the nuclear threat that to me shows weakness not strength. But if he gets beat bad enough he may just panic and start a nuclear escalation.

I hate to say it but the long game approach is probably the smart play. Let him wear himself out overextend himself in Ukraine and have an Afghanistan situation on his hands. Ley the sanctions begin to take a toll and limit his options He'll be in no shape to do any more aggression after this he'll need to regroup which gives Nato plenty of time to get prepared.

Plus we need to see his next move anyway. If he pulls out after demiltarizing Ukraine that says something. Maybe he was serious about not accepting Ukraine into Nato and once it's stripped of any major threat he may back out. If he does that says something something that can be used to negotiate our way back down from this.

The nuclear reactor they stopped fighting after it took damage. If they really wanted to they could have blown that facility open. But that would screw them and there military as much as it would the Ukraines. But the fact there was a cease fire on both sides says at that site says something. It's impossible to know his next play until he plays it. We need to know his next move before we can know how to respond.

There's not a lot of rational thinking/action here in the first place....just authoritarian lord helmet waving and the world has paid far too much for this sort of small mind/small lord helmet thinking that so many guys like the wet dreams of Putler and drumphy and Kim Jong Fool and others..... Just sad really.

The crazy part is this was not even really about Ukraine. This crazy bastard used Ukraine to send a message to Nato. It's always been about Nato with Putin. The fact is he slowly built 150'000 troops up saying he will go to war if Ukraine does not take Nato off the table. Everyone thought he was Saber rattling but sure as sh$t he rolled right on in when those talks stalled. And really caught Nato with there pants down

Putin is a monster but that part is on Nato and the US as well. The Russians have always complained and said Nato in there old territories and on there borders is a problem. This isn't just Putins administration it's been previous Russian administration's as well. Verbal agreements were broken on this.

The thing is NATO had a chance to agree to this and would have lost nothing in the process. If Putin withdraws those troops from the border well maybe he's being genuine and progress can be made from there.

If not we're right where we are at now and we know then for a fact it's more then Ukraine and he's tipped his hand completely and we can adjust from there.

Now it's just a total sh$t show and where things go from here is unclear. But it's too late to go back now. We just have to see how this plays out

Then again we kinda screwed Russia at the end of WW II but does that particularly make it better? Hard to go to war with a madman dictator, but going nuclear is such a distinct threat not sure if I care so much for areas of the world that couldn't resist such domination before. It will impact us one way or the other. It is definitely a sh*t show, but so was the cold war before. Not a rosy outlook.

Yeah I completely agree. I'm just trying to enjoy each day to its fullest. Cus who knows where we are going to be at down the road. Because if it ever went nuclear that's just game over. For all of us. No one's winning that one. And what can you do? Just make the most of every day right now

Generally a good attitude no matter what, though :) Worrying about effects of things out of your control/influence particularly....meh

President Volodymyr Zelensky has survived at least three assassination attempts in the week since the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war - The Times / nypost

According to the publication, two groups were sent to the country with the task of killing the President of Ukraine - Wagner PMC mercenaries and Kadyrov special forces. The assassination attempts fell through due to the actions of FSB officers opposed to the war.

A source close to Wagner told the publication that they suffered losses during the assassination attempts on Zelensky.

This Energador power plant, with 6 reactors, each capable of 690MW is insanely big..... it is now being controlled by the hands of the insane Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyrov, and that there are now placed explosives, capable of blowing up some or all the reactors if Putin finds that necessary. There are statements on the official channels that the Energador reactor will be used to threaten EU and USA.

I guess that possibility of explosion would make some areas of Europe "unlivable" for the next 20.000 years or so...
Most of Europe is in danger here ....

IMHO This is way more dangerous and scary than the Cuba Crisis in 1962

This concerns me a great deal...

I am open to this being way off base as well. It is covered in a number of news outlets.

I think that Ukraine is shooting itself in the foot when they don't make sure to build goodwill towards other nations along the way. When a coworker told me this was going on, I had to research it a bit. Looks to be somewhat accurate. I would, at the very least, suggest equal access to leave the nation, but I might go further as to encourage letting foreign students vacate the nation. Treat them well, build good relations with the nations who they really need supporting them.
I've seen reports of this from several sources as well. If Ukraine wants to maintain the good will of the international community, they need to get a grip on this.
