Showed up on my porch today ! New JBL Synthesis Array 880 center speaker. Come packed to withstand years in a tomb very heavy 47 lbs almost 30 inches wide , 11 inches deep .
Incredible build quality very well made haven’t had time to recalibrate the system yet later today when it’s more quite but had it running on my other center channels settings so far sounds incredible .
This is the first of the upgrade of my front stage this should last a lifetime of use . Apologize for the sideways photos as I can’t seem to rotate them .

When I upgraded from my v2 to the v5 Paradigm it too was a lot larger. As they say, go big or go home. ;)
Indeed the older jbl center had 6 inch bass drivers this one has 8 inch and is the same height but dam near 12 inches wider and twice as deep and add 25 more pounds lol in my minds eye it didn’t look as massive as it is lol !

Indeed ! This will be my last upgrade this year I found it I jumped on it . It’s a jbl synthesis 880 project array goes with several of the project array lines in a year I’ll switch out my front mains with either the HDI series or the mates to this center. Got to save up some bucks for that kind of purchase. Although this sounds really amazing with my current towers which Iam content with .
This is very impressive sounding once I recalibrated the whole system . I’ve always loved the sound of horns in a good setup these compression drivers are so clean and clear as big as this thing is it just vanishes with incredible detail my friend you would like this Iam sure .

How much $ was it?
When it was still in the lineup this and the whole Synthesis Array line up is discontinued as of over a year ago . This center retailed for 3.800.00 I paid not nearly that around 1.549.00 I paid with tax . New in the box 5 year warranty jbl high end dealer offing his remaining stock .
It’s quite large but it sounds incredible and despite its size it disappears in the room . It would sound great with your 590’s or the HDI series. I was worried it would not blend with my current towers but no worries quality is quality they hold there own with it .
Next year I’ll change out my hp 520’s and move them to the rear of the room duty and take a strong look at the HDI series or the Array 1400 or 1000 Array but I’ve shot my wallet this year on upgrades .

This may be the best sounding center or speaker I’ve ever herd .

So basically it smoked the RC263?

I just now noticed that it's a 3 way center channel, and good driver configuration too. When I first saw it I thought it was a 2 way.

To be honest I’ve never herd the RC 263 but the LC 2 I had was excellent but could be somewhat bright and shrill sounding on music and lacked what I’d call punch .
From what I’ve read and herd the present studio center really lacks in performance compared to the 590’s and the rest of that line . I looked hard at the HDI center too but it was actually more money and less build quality then I found this and did my homework this to me was a no Brainer . Top design quality same compression drivers as the Everest design , pro grade bass drivers top of the line crossover over components . It sounds really good at an level I’ve played it too actually it gets better the more volume you play it at which it’s designed to do .
It sounds so good and the soundstage is so wide I feel on some material I may need to separate my front towers by two more feet . I’ve never herd highs and mids as clear as this can do in a center .

For some reason I thought you picked one up like I did....I'd love to hear yours in action!
