I'm snow plowing this storm for the town I work for in NJ. Its a pretty strong storm, not as bad as I thought or all the weather people made it out to be. It ain't over yet though. Came in 1AM Monday morning and will probably be here till Wednesday afternoon before we can go home.

Good for you- my two stage decided to puke about 1/3 way through the job and I had to finish with the small one and a shovel, which sucked. Fresh gas, both got gas from the same container minutes apart, no water in the tank. Seemed to be running rich, which is odd, since I had used it a couple of weeks ago and it was fine.

My back is killing me.

I hate Winter.

damn ethanol gas ! As far as winter goes, I hear ya, when I was still snowmobiling I looked forward to winter, but after 42 years my knees said it was time to quit ! But being retired at least I don't have to worry about getting out in this mess.

Being from Buffalo and living down here in SE Pa it's laughable how these folks panic on a forecast !

I maintain my equipment well- it started on a weak pull the first time after Summer, it did the same yesterday and I showed my neighbor how to get her snowblower running (if you know what I mean:)), too. I saw her give up trying and she only got it a few months ago, so I asked about it- explained that it needs more gas in cold air and how the choke works. Then, I told her that it starts easily if she pulls the cord slowly, just to build up some compression and draw gas into the cylinder. I did that and it started after pulling the cord about six inches. She was amazed and yesterday, I saw her out there using it.

I don't panic, but I don't drive like it's warm, dry pavement, either. I listened to the police scanner and people were going off the road all over- cars and semi's in ditches, spin-outs, crashes, poles taken down....

They forget how to drive, every year and after a few days of no snow. It's mind-boggling.

This snowfall was the light, packing type- great for a snowball fight, sculpting or making a snowperson (don't want to be sexist, after all).

Well, your snowstorm has reached us. The roads were becoming a bit greasy as I drove to work, but since I leave the house at 0615, there wasn't much traffic. We're expecting about 15cm before the temperature rises above freezing later this morning, when the snow will change over to rain. We're expecting anywhere from 25mm to 80mm of rain before it's over - it's gonna be messy, especially since the ground is frozen, resulting in a lot of runoff. The winds are strong and increasing and power outages have already been reported. Temperature is expected to reach + 7°C tomorrow.

"Your snowstorm"???????

I have a cousin who uses 'your' when someone with the same last name as some of our family and may/may not be connected, does something bad or could be considered less than desireable. Someone whose last name was the same as HER maiden name killed someone in California and when she mentioned it, she said "Did you see what YOUR cousin did?". Last time we spoke, I mentioned someone and she said "No, those are YOUR hillbilly cousins".

We didn't do it! It's not our fault. Nobody saw it. You can't prove it!

Everything was fine & dandy here in Montco, PA with the original 4 to 6 inches but last night a roaring wind came in and froze it all up and then another 4 to 5 inches piled on top of the existing tundra.

This morning I could literally walk on top of it without making an impression on it. More of a PIA than a disaster.

So, you're saying greasy snow was coming from the south? Whatever prompted you say that :D

Update (as if anyone actually cares)-

As usual, the plow truck came through on Sunday night, hours after everyone was done getting rid of the snow, which means all of our driveways were refilled with snow because they don't worry about cleanup until they have established a couple of lanes for cars to pass. I went out yesterday and, thinking that the larger snowblower had overheated, tried to use it. Well, that lasted about a minute- it started easily enough, but died after about a minute. I made sure it had gas (it did) and decided to use the smaller one since the snow was wet and it does better with it. but before I did, I decided to see if I could find something that could have caused the problem. I removed the bowl from the carb to see if it had any obvious issues, like rust, debris, water, etc. Nothing- it was very clean, so I reinstalled it, but I made sure the bolt was tighter than before. Primed it, started it and left it to run while I cleaned up the remaining snow- it was still running 20 minutes later.

Bastige!

It's just a term we use when the roads get a bit slick with ice or snow. It wasn't meant as a double-entendre.
