Damaged optic input

Hi all Ive broke the optic output on my TV,my problem now is that my canton dm50 only has optic out/in and not hdmi. Is there a hdmi to optic cable I could use I've looked everywhere but to no avail or if someone knows a work around I would be over the moon many thanks in advance

Yes, converters are available. I am looking at one I have on hand and it converts hdmi to both analog rca out and optical out. I think if you look around on ebay you can find just about any converter combination you might need. Mostly these are relatively inexpensive, i.e. $19.00 or less.

Assume you mean optical output on your tv? I don't see hdmi compatibility happening for audio output from your tv except perhaps via ARC if you had such in your DM50. What particular tv is it?

Yes it's the TV output that's damaged I over forced the cable in.its a year old Toshiba 4k TV I think it may well have an arc hdmi input the dm50 only output is optic thanks for replying

When I glanced at the DM50 it had both an optical and coax input. I meant what specific model and brand....

Right it's s Toshiba 65u2963db TV connected to a canton dm50

Only other audio output I see for that tv is the headphone output, so you could still export audio to your DM50 with an appropriate cable. It didn't say on the product sheet but I assume it's a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Canton DM50 per its product info has a "chinch" analog input jack but not sure what that is....

What is it about the optical port that's broken particularly when you forced a cable in? Got a pic?

From what you say, it sounds as if you have broken the circuit board that port was attached to. These ports are pretty much always attached to the PCB board these days.
If you can't see the port, and it is just a hole where it was, this is what has happened. If that is the case your TV is no longer fit for service and the damaged board has to be inspected and almost certainly replaced. It could also be that the port was not properly attached to the board, and you have a legitimate warranty claim. If you can truthfully attest to the fact you did not push hard on the port, then you have a claim. Are you sure you took the protective cover off the end of the TOSLINK cable? Did you try and force it in with the protective cover on? If you did abuse the port, the cost of fixing this is your responsibility.
Not keeping damaged electronics in service, is a very good rule.

It that case it would have taken a lot of force to do that. Can you see the female end of the connector in the TV at all? Did you hear a crack of the PCB board fracturing. If the PCB board is not broken, then I think you have a legitimate warranty claim, and you should pursue it. If you broke the PCB board, then it is down to you, and you need to be more careful in future.

There are but you don’t have a normal hdmi output on the tv, you have an ARC hdmi connection on the tv. It takes special electronics to negotiate with the tv to get audio to come out the arc hdmi port on the tv.

It’s probably just best to take analog output from the tv to the soundbar.

You need an HDMI output and not an input. eARC I don't think can be stripped.

What you really need to do is get your TV fixed.

That's just it, they are hdmi inputs to the tv. While ARC allows for audio from the tv from an hdmi connected source (like an avr or bluray player or game console), you need compatible electronics and can't say I've seen one meant to just use ARC in a converter....
