Questions about Inefficient speakers with audyssey

Hello Audioholics,

so I ran audyssey with my setup:

2 sets of BW AM 1
2 SVS SB1000
Marantz 5014

Im at reference level and it’s not even loud... at -15 is barely audible

My levels settings are
FL -4.0
FR -4.5
SL - 3.5
SR. -3.0

now I’m streaming through Bluetooth to Tidal App so I don’t know if that’s the issue. Now I can get some ok sound when I bump up my channel level adjust but is that bad or harm on my AVR?

I get it that my speakers are not efficient but parents bought them a year ago so can’t really return them...

Is audyssey even getting the results correct?

its a 22x20 2 car garage if that helps.

Thanks I can give y’all some distances if you need it.

Seems your speaker trim levels aren't unusual but the result at the master volume control is. I'd suspect source level first (and your avr has a way of adjusting for source level per input to help even it out with others if you can't raise the level in the source itself).

thanks for the reply! Is it in Inputs/Source Level?

Yeah that's the usual route for Denon/Marantz avrs for adjusting levels between different inputs. If the level is really low, though, it's more a source issue than the avr will be able to make up for (at least if -15 is barely audible).

Or make sure the volume on the phone(still a source) is all the way up.

The worry about using max gain/least attenuation is usually overthought, too.

thanks for the reply, if I turn my phone all the way than that’s the main source of volume unless I gotta change something in settings.

I feel like at reference I should be blown out of my seat but I’m not.

I will mess with it tomorrow! Thanks for y’all’s reply! I also get bad volume levels with the Apple TV! Do y’all get that as well!?

Is maxing out the input source level bad?

I don't have Apple tv, and on my Amazon Fire Sticks there's no level control at all (or its well hidden).

I generally do max out any volume control when using audio related phone apps with my systems....but think the phone tends to limit that to 80% automatically, will have to dig into that a bit....

It’s still not loud... I even checked all the speaker wires and all.

I even have a dragon cobalt sourcing my music .Is boosting levels necessary bad or Channel adjust?

How about a different type of source? Like an optical disc player.....

What's a dragon cobalt?

Also, have you tried connecting your phone via wifi or hard wire?

It’s a high quality dac from audio quest.
Should I be blown out of the room at reference level?
Me and my wife was it’s barely even loud.

Yeah I realized that I did know what it was a while after I posted. Meh on FraudioQuest products, they're a pox on the audio industry generally....overpriced and claims that are ridiculous. I would never buy anything from them myself. Looking at its spec it should have enough output level to get full volume from the avr, tho.

Is this a used avr? Did you run a full reset on receipt?

Only way I feel like I get any good high music is with my levels in the positive and boosting the hell out of the channel adjust and input levels. I get that there not efficient but I should be blown out of the room at reference level but it’s not even loud so.
