Adding Bluetooth to older AVR

I'd like to listen to wireless headphones (music & movies) on my Yamaha RX-A1020, this AVR does not provide bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Is there an adapter which I can plug into the headphone jack or other output, then into a bluetooth transmitter to send sound to bluetooth headphones? Another option is my TV (Sony Bravia) has Toslink and analog audio out jacks. Thanks for any ideas! (I've already tried the SoundCast VGtx, piece of junk, could not get it to work even after replacement uint from store).

You might be able to get there with a Bluetooth transmitter.

You can get a Bluetooth receiver and plug it into your Yamaha just like another component. The Aventree Oasis seems to be one of the better ones.

Hi Wayne, I tried the Avantree Oasis Plus, does not work with my TV because I do not have a sound option on the TV for PCM audio which the Oasis requires.

Have you tried using the RX-A1020 zone2 RCA output connected to the Avantree Oasis Plus and use ARC from the TV to the receiver?

Edit: Perhaps I should read your first post more carefully . The Avantree Oasis Plus, according to homepage, supports analog input and that should work if you connect directly from TV to the Oasis Plus. I would try to get ARC working and connect the Oasis to the Zone 2 analog output. That way you could use your wireless headphones for other input sources as well.

My Sony Bravia LCD TV does not have ARC. It does have a Digital audio out (optical) which only works with PCM/Dolby Digital compatible audio equipment. Apparently the bluetooth transmitters I've tried (Soundcast VGtx, Avantree Oasis plus; are not PCM/Dolby digital compatible.

For now I'm giving up adding wireless headphone capability to my system. Too frustrating.

Headphone out with rca at the end to plug into a bluetooth transmitter should work, normal stereo analogue signal out that way and mutes the speakers (usually)

Phono to RCA adaptor. Can just be a cable with different connections at either end, the picture you linked is just a bigger to smaller phono jack. You might need that also if the adaptor cable has a small phono connector and the headphone put on the receiver has a big one.
