You may only need a Digital Coaxial cable you don't need green, pink, black connections.

Connections would be:
Laptop > USB cable > Asus USB port

Asus S/PDIF Output > Digital coaxial cable > Logitech Digital coaxial Input

Logitech to speakers

And of course install the latest Asus drivers for your Xonar U7 from their website for Windows or whatever operating system you are using on your laptop. Drivers on any included CD/DVD disc are most likely outdated.

i bought the cable and connected, and it wont read that it's a 5.1 system in the xonar software

I don't think it really matters that Asus doesn't see a 5.1 system it's just helping transfer the content to its final destination with blindfolds on, the Logitech side will manage the outputs.

As long as Windows is configured to select the Asus in Sound settings via the Control Panel and the Logitech control console is selecting Input #5 you should be good to go.

everything im reading online is telling me that the spdif cable cannot do 5.1 surrond sound,so i'm getting only 2.1 from my speakers,is it possible that this is hard? im losing my mind a little xd

Depends on the source coming through, it needs to be a "digital" source to feed 5.1. See if you have a DVD/Blu-Ray disc with Dolby Digital or DTS Digital format and test it, but make sure your laptop's disc drive supports DVD, Blu-ray discs.

Sorry yes any source (discs, online, etc.) with such format will work, I assumed having a disc right there would be the quickest.

Connect the Xonar U7 to your laptop via usb.

Three 3.5mm cables should have come with the speakers or the soundcard.

Connect the three 3.5mm cables from the soundcard to the back of the subwoofer. I do not know which cables go in which hole - read your manuals for that.

If it works on Netflix for 5.1 but not for other programs, then that suggests that the other programs may not be sending a 5.1 signal.

Don't expect 5.1 audio from a 2.1 source (unless you have some DSP engaged).
