Emp tek impression series vs polk rti series

So, I had posted a thread a few days ago about my basement project but it didn't gain much traction. I was originally considering the polk tsx series speakers, but I have now been informed on these EMP TEK impression series. Home audio is a completely new frontier to me. A friend of mine is encouraging me to go with polks rti series with the rtia5 towers. However, I'm really drawn to the EMP TEKS. I already have my reciever, yamaha aventage rx-a850. Either way you look at it, the money spent would be close, but what's the best bang for buck? My basement is pretty good sized (approx 35x25x10) and I'll need to fill it with sound.

I'm an EMP owner. They are in a different class from the Polk. Since they are purchased from the manufacturer, I'm not aware of any discount pricing.

I have the Impressions towers, surrounds and center. I use a DIY subwoofer.

There are 2 different centers for the impression series. I will likely just go with the larger one.

So the i-12 won't be enough? What if I got the one i-12 and got another to match down the road? The reciever is capable of 7.2.

I'm sure EMP's subs are ok, but I'd rather spend the sub money at SVS, Powersound, reaction audio, hsu, outlaw, or rythmik.

You could always make use of the 30 day free trial as well. It wouldn't be my first choice.

8750ft³ needs something that can move some air. You'd be happier with an 18 or two I think. I'd check Power Sound or Reaction.

Although adding a second sub can increase the output, that's not why people run dual subs. It's more to even out the in-room response, so you get more consistent response across your seating area and aren't limited to a single sweet spot. In your situation, though, since you've got a cavern to pressurize, I think a single 18 would sound better than dual 12's. You should hop onto Power Sound Audio's website and chat with Tom V, and see what he recommends.

No, honestly @rojo. I appreciate the input. I just didn't know I'd have to drop $1k on a dang sub. This is starting to get really expensive and I have a feeling it won't stop anytime soon lol. I fat fingered the like button, my bad.
