Extreme Room (Sub too small; forgot about physics) - now what

Do you recommend running YPAO calibration? I've long lost the mic but now it might be worth buying/borrowing another.

Yeah, I do. You can probably find a replacement on eBay for less than 25 bucks. It's nearly impossible to EQ effectively by ear. It's best to allow the AVR to auto correct for room response, then salt to taste from there.

Sat on his couch he kicked on transformers.mpg Optimus took off I stood up and said sold :D.

I bought a crown amp off Amazon Because of binding posts per your rec. What guage wires do I need for let's say 10-15ft? Can't seem to find a good voltage number to calc amps from watts.

Congrats Dan! You really got something to be proud of. I'd like to see pics of your theater and more tales of victory once you get all the components installed.

So its all hooked up, no furniture yet but it gets here today. Sub crawl located it in a really inconvenient location.

I ended up getting the crown 1000xls, bridged it for 1100w. Level at 10(max). Unless i go over 0.0db on the RXV565 it never gets to the -10 from clip light. Sounds pretty good. Response at 20hz is a big drop off from 30, but so far for $350 i cant complain just waiting for furniture to do a movie night tonight.

Also on the Yamaha receivers like my RXV565; how do you know if it is clipping your speakers? The amp has a convenient light like most amps. Not sure the receiver does, dont want to trash my Fluance XL series.

Thanks,
Dan

You know, facing the horn into a corner might help response < 30Hz. Corner loading can boost the bass an additional 10dB.

I think as long as you make sure the receiver has the Fluance speakers set as "small" you don't run much risk of harming them. Just avoid playing bass sine wave tones at high volume for extended times if you hear your tweeters ring, and beware of clicking from the mid drivers.

I bi amped the fronts. Set all speakers to small. I set the crown to low pass at 150hz for the sub as well.

That Crown amp doesn't have an option for 30Hz high pass does it? Horn subs will reach their excursion limit in a hurry below the cutoff frequency.

I honestly have no idea. I know u can pick hp/lp/bypass. I picked low pass then u pick a freq. Which I assume is the max freq it will pass.

Hey @Dan Smith, you still around? I've been curious whether you ever got fully moved into your man cave yet. Got pics?

Is that your monster horn to the right of the couch in the 2nd pic? Did you try corner loading it to the right of the projector screen?
