I shouldn't be browsing CL.... stumbled on this speaker:
http://www.soundstage.com/revequip/energy_c9.htm

Msrsp: $1300 seller asks $200. Only 1h drive from me. Minor cosmetic wear only.
Only one problem - I probably wont find matching Energy C-C3 center

I DON'T NEW SPEAKERS (says unreliable narrator)

I'm just a little surprised that there hasn't been one political thread in the last couple days.

Two large, two-topping pizzas from Papa John's for $16 until June 29. That's close to what I was paying back around 2000. Hmmm. Okay, granted, they didn't use to charge for delivery back then...so a $20 would make the driver happy. Now, the total will be over $20 with tax and delivery.

I just talked myself out of it. I'm so cheap...

Started moving a bunch of stuff into the new place. Turns out the previous residents left us a nice mess in some hidden places (fridge, stove, etc). Plus there's an issue with the electric company and them not paying their bill. Hopefully it gets figured out between the electric company and the landlord and our power doesn't get shut off.

In other news, went to a different HD and played with the miter saws. Had a completely different experience from the last HD. DeWalt was a little shaky and shifted a little when clamped. Bosch was rock solid. More confused than ever.

What do you actually anticipate needing to cut regularly? Because you seem to be seriously analyzing this decision, but I can't figure out your objective!

HD use to have a 30 day no questions asked return policy. When you assemble and dial in a new saw, it should behave better than a demo model that was more than likely thrown together. Plus the Bosch 'screw' IIRC cocks the table a bit.

After considering TW's post about 10" blades being more stable, I would consider those options more seriously.

Amazon announced suddenly last week that they will begun reporting the fair market value (FMV) of Vine items to the IRS as income for us. They have not yet stated how they will determine FMV. I occasionally mention items here, but those are the big ones that I'm excited about (shut UP! :D). A lot of items are not expensive, not something that I would normally buy, and not uncommonly pre-production items that aren't even fit for sale. I (and others) pick them because our role is to evaluate items and write reviews, plus it gives us a chance to try out things that we normally wouldn't. However, if I'm now going to have to pay for the "privilege" of spending my time reviewing items...items that I don't even get to decide which ones are offered to me...that's a game changer. Vine has never been financially beneficial to me. Given the quantity of time that I spend on it, I'd be far better off just working more hours. The thrill of the hunt, as it were, kept me in the game - but that thrill is greatly reduced if I'm going to have to pay taxes on things that I'm not allowed to even give away.

Just wanted to think out loud (kinda). Now back to your regularly scheduled boredom...

You might want to ask them if they'll help you determine FMV on all the stuff you've already received and report it for you. Wouldn't want to cheat the tax man, am I right??? :D

More speaker building, plus general tasks. In the future I'll use for any number of things (additions, decks, baseboard, etc). Whatever happens to come up in addition to speaker building.

I may just have to end up doing the buy and try method. Maybe buy both and return the other. That was the thing, when I went to try the store models (which seemed 100% better set up in this HD) the DeWalt lock down cocked things up a touch and the Bosch "screw" didn't move a mm when tightened.

At this point, I think I'd rather have the extra capacity. Throw in a forrest blade and blade stiffener and it should keep things about as accurate as I need them to be. That was the other thing. When I started yanking on that Bosch laterally, this one didn't budge like the last one. I have to say, that the ability to push the saw right up against the wall is appealing since this is going to me 99% shop saw.

It sounds like you are sold on a 12". If you anticipate a lot of bevels, I would also look at which saw makes bevel adjustments easier. Accuracy is NOT guaranteed, you'll need a bevel gauge for that. They're all designed for construction where nothing is ever square.
