So my kids want ps4's for their bedrooms for xmas, last year they didn't want it this year they do, I can't figure it out, but anyway I guess this meant we could get rid of all the ps3's in the house...

So I told my kids they could have ps4 for xmas, BUT they had to give their PS3's and all the games, controllers, ect ect ect to the church raffle... They quickly agreed until I told them the raffle was 2 weeks before xmas, lol, then it took some extra thought, but they agreed..

So we had 5 ps3's in the house for some reason, one has never had a game in it, I use it in the living room as a smart device, but we have that one too and I ordered an amazon prime box for $80..

I got it and had it hooked up in less than 5 minutes, put the wifi id and pw in, netflix id and it came with my prime membership already loaded in, like magic...

I have been using it and I have to say this thing is awesome, works great and so much easier to use than the playstation, plus the remote is flawless too... I really like it, if anyone is on the fence about one of these gizmos, jump on it, its on sale right now...

I assume you refer by "amazon prime box thingy" to Amazon Fire TV. I have not played with it yet, but it's smaller brother FireTV Stick is freaking awesome. Regular Fire TV has insane hardware specs for it's small price. Since it's introduction early 2014 the community had decent time to play with and learned to do plenty of great tricks with it including rooting, running XBMC/Kodi, games (not supported ones) etc..

Fire Stick is just a bit less capable, but still very nice HTPC client. It's amazing how much you could get with a bit of tinkering with it.

If you haven't already dropped off all the ps3s I might buy one if the price is right :D

I have a fire stick but I've only used it once so far.

Stick is pretty slick too. Set it up for my parents and they're pleased with it so far. Had them buy a new router (AC66U) because they were not getting good speed from the current netgear.

You can bid at the church :D , they did give us a few games back and some gta "pack" the kids had, that as I was told were "not appropriate for a church event", Gods, raffle / auction is very strict, no grand theft auto but modern warfare is OK....
We donated a TON of stuff, 2- john deere zero turn lawn mowers {they were about 2-3 years old}, a bunch of art from the property we bought in Italy {it came furnished and decorated, even has 5 TV's and 2 sound systems, both are AEG, never heard of them before, they must be cheap, they dont sound that good, lol tall skinny towers that say AEG on the front of them...}.
I also donated a TON of building materials to Habitat for humanity, valued around $70K!!!!
With the events of this year you can imagine I am scurrying around looking for IRS write offs, is it already December 17th? LOL I wonder what these kids would be valued at :D

While I won't get close to the 50% maximum, I would like to donate as much as possible, I have a stack of receipts, and my wife says the receipts make the donations feel cheap, and I could care less...

It said in stock when I bought them, I called amazon and they didn't have enough of them in stock for my entire order so they didn't ship any.. She has upgraded me to 1 day shipping, So now I am up to 1/8, lol.. I am not in any hurry, I got one for the tv in each of my guest bedrooms, 1 for the guest living room, and one for my room... We have 2 prime memberships so I can stream video on 4 devices, but all of these are coming linked to 1 account, probably going to have to figure that out...

They can all be linked to one account AFAIK. Just sign in and they work. You can choose to attach a different account to a different device as well, because the one I bought for my parents came configured for me (just like the FireHD I bought my dad). You just choose "other user" and it will let you sign in on a different account.

I have had it pretty much since launch, if it had VUDU it would have been a perfect device. Got hooked on the bowling game. No VUDU and Spotify has caused me to use my Roku 3 more. Instant Stream with Prime is awesome and the voice command works great.

My Fire TV Stick should arrive today. I'm looking forward to trying it out. If I really like it, maybe I'll get a Fire TV so that I'll have one to also hook up to my Panasonic in the office (now that I'm moving it in there). With the Fire TV on sale for $80, and the $15 credit towards one that I got for buying a TV, it might be worth it. I'll just have to see if the new Samsung is really any slower than the TV Stick - if it can do it all built-in, then I don't need to buy another box. The Panasonic, though, is pretty slow being from 2009 (which is why I always stream from my blu-ray player).

If you got the stick, DO sideloade the kodi. It gives it so much more functionality. Plus its quite easy. I mean really. Easier than rooting cell phones

The stick does everything the Fire TV does so far, and nearly as quickly (almost not noticeable). I think it will eat a fair chunk of their Fire TV sales to be honest. The only current benefit (not for me at the moment) is that the FireTV now supports HBO GO as of yesterday.

Interesting it supports HBO Go, wonder if Comcast blocks it like the do on the Roku

I notice the stick doesn't have the voice command remote, which I have used a lot already, I don't search through that menu I just say what I want to look at, with background noise and people talking it still gets it everytime... Pretty impressive, applie siri needs to figure out how amazon got that voice recog to work..
