I've like Godzilla movies since I was about 4 so needless to say I'm pretty excited about this one. Gee golly gosh, I love that roar :D

I also like how they've gone back to more of the traditional Godzilla proportions.

Seriously, I have no life.
I just hope that the subs can stand up to the modern digital recordings if they take good advantage in the mastering process.
;) :)

How can I trust an IMDB rating when the dang movie hasn't even been released yet?

I'm sure It was pre-viewed before it comes out. We get alot of free passes here in NYC. I might actually go see this in the theater(Not a fan of cell phone lights) and buy the BD If it's good.

I will get the movie for sure. But I think the IMDB rating will be like 5.0 - 6.0 when all is said and done. :D

Still early watchers tend to give higher marks (they probably got free tickets and had good time)
IMDB 9.0 is very hard score to get, but imdb score becomes relevant from starting from 5k votes.
Speaking of imdb - I joined that site as a member in 1999

Sorry folks, have to go against the grain. Got back a short while ago seeing this in IMAX 3D and I hated it.

No worries man... :) I'm curious to know why you hated it and just because isn't a good answer... :p

I'm pumped to see it...thinking it would have both killer affects and soundtrack.

Should be another fun pizza party movie. ;)

The wife and I are planning on seeing Godzilla and X-Men this Friday. :D

I liked it. I saw all the old Japanese movies when I was a kid and this Godzilla seemed like what Toho would have done if they had digital FX instead of rubber costumes, toy cars and cardboard buildings. I'll grant that my expectations were not all that high, but it did exceed my modest hopes. Don't expect much in the way of acting, but the 3D FX were quite good, the sound sufficiently bassy, the plot made some sense if you don't remember much from physics. I have definitely spent worse evenings at the movies.

It's a must see for me....I grew up on those Japanese flicks all the way back to Ultraman....I can't wait for a Godzilla vs. Megalon re-match...god I loved that giant flying turtle and he kicked Godzillas butt...:D

Does that mean you haven't seen it yet? If not I can tell you it definitely is more of a throw back to all the old school Godzilla movies. That's part of why I liked it so much. My only minor gripe is that I wanted more bad a$$ monster on monster battle scenes. :D

SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!

Was just an unrealistic movie trying to be serious unlike something like Pacific Rim which wasn't a particularly good movie and completely unrealistic given how other more feasible options to combat the Kaiju were available, but it was a fun watch as it was a lot of touch in cheek. The military in particular behaved very unrealistic in Godzilla. For example, the military would never put its tanks on a vulnerable bridge; it would have tried using its strategic bombers capable of flying above the monster's EMP range and many are hardened against EMP; it would not be moving ICBMs by train when better options to move nukes into position exist; it didn't fire on Godzilla while shadowing him in the Pacific and waited till he was in San Francisco; it would not immediately use a nuclear weapon when large bombs such as the MOAB are available first. Cloverfield was a much better monster movie in my opinion.

The affects and soundtrack was definitely good so no complaints on that front :)

My wife actually liked Godzilla 2014 a lot. She actually said she liked the new Godzilla as much as the new X-Men movie. That says a lot to me. :D

She hated every Jurassic Park, King Kong, precious Godzilla movie, and 99% of all science fiction. :)

Yes, but we are talking about fictional EMP from fictional monsters, not real EMP. :D

We all differ in opinions for sure. I thought Cloverfield was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I wanted every character to die in Cloverfield after 30 mins so the movie could end. :D
