Anybody know anything about this? I stumbled upon this site(salksound) claiming to build superior cabinets with Rythmik subs. One cabinet I guess has a powered 15” with two passive radiators for $1895. This site has no pics or specs and are built to order. They are located in Michigan. No pics or specs just seems a little odd.

I think you'd have to send an e-mail to Jim to get much definitive information. Subwoofers aren't exactly Salk's main business, but as you've found, he does build custom cabinetry for Rythmik subwoofers which he presumably mostly offers for folks who'd like a sub that aesthetically complements their other Salk speakers. I inquired about the sealed version a while back, and found that the performance bits (driver, amp, box volume) would be identical to the F15HP (IIRC).

Like Steve said, it's not that Salk is building different subs from rythmik, they're just in custom built cabinets where the shape and finish can be altered. They can also make you a custom sub with different drivers if you wish, but all information is by inquiry.

Yup, I thought of contacting JS for a F15HP build but I just couldn't bring myself in going with Salk being an Ascend guy. Now, if Dave had bamboo cabinets for the F15 available through Ascend to that match my Towers exactly..I'd been all over the Rythmik F15 sub... I simply don't like black cabs.

In the end...I when with another option....no regrets. :)

If you desire nice... JS is the man to ask ;).

It's funny you mention that... I'm blasting Dark Side Of The Moon on that very subwoofer while I type this. It will be my next review.

Jim Salk makes a few models that Rythmik does not, but the aesthetics in this case are not really the same as his speakers I'm afraid; the cabinet is built like a tank -- and weighs about 170 pounds! -- it's just not all that pleasing to look at (think big square box). You can get different finishes though. In my 1800 ft^3 room it more then holds its own, regardless of volume or depth of material.

There are a few superb cabinet builders that are well experienced audiophile builder hobbyist. Salk is a very well represented builder and so far has all positive feedback from buyers. Lookout for E.C.Speakers also. I have 2 subs from them. Superb performance. I got 2 15 inch subs from him by Rythmik in custom cabinetry for $2500.00, Im completely satisfied.
