I currently have the Yamaha htr 5960 reciever (non hdmi). I am running my speakers off external emotiva. I am just about ready to upgrade my reciever. I am basically doing it for the hdmi inputs and the lossless HD audio.
I have been looking into the new Aventage RX A800. I like the look of it and the numbe of hdmi inputs. I noticed blue river has this for about $425. I then starting doing some research on some of the other models and found that the older RX V667 is being sold on a popular site for $250. The 667 looks similar to the A800. The reviews on the 667 look good as well.
Thoughts? Advice? Clearly the watts do not mean much to me since I am using external amp.
